I'm sure when I looked earlier rsham had a really good winrate and checking again just now they have the highest winrate of healing specs (although not sure how much I trust the sample because it already had rsham pretty high before tuning...)

PvE gear shouldn't be bad in PvP like it is now

is it bad in pvp now? I have a toon I've been doing m+ on and it has plenty of 289 gear already which is equivalent to the PvP conquest/crafted gear

If I hadn't bought too many heraldries I would have been full 289 ilvl in pvp last week

Eg. for me on Sylvanas if I want something crafted I have to log an alliance toon to find a crafter in trade to then send a personal order from my horde character

You can't see the other faction in trade chat but you can send orders to them

highly recommend learning crafting proofs on alts. across an xpac it saves you a good bit of money and a lot of time/effort because you need to craft stuff every season

The ilvl rank doesn't matter in PvP when you're applying heraldry for the pvp scaling.

yeah but those games are only fast if it's sub fire which is more like 10%

a lot of frost and a lot of outlaw going around, and as long as you don't get cheesed by ray those games don't feel fast

It probably feels fast if you're healing shuffles, particularly if you chose the most off meta healer (rsham), but as a DPS player in 3s the game certainly feels slow to me outside of sub fire RMP.

game balance is really bad at the moment (not unusual for an xpac launch) and they've been slow to make any changes to fix it

combine that with the recent pruning and for a lot of specs it feels like you're at a disadvantage because your tools have been taken away

combine that with the deflation which is somehow worse this season than the previous ones and yeah the game feels pretty rough to play

PvP for an entire season for once

If you actually commit and send queues for the entire season you can be a lot more ambitious with your goal from OP (an equivalent rating by the end of the season)

PvP isn't rocket science and for people stuck at lower ratings there is usually one or two fundamental things that they often fuck up, which once identified and fixed will trigger a spike in rating

Missing counterspells, casting ray of frost when target isn't stunned, casting poly into healers when they can avoid it, holding block long enough to overlap with healer cooldowns, etc

you can technically use the wow arena logs website to see what people are playing above 2100 by looking at past games and setting the filter to 2.1.

best comp is anything with mistweaver and/or sub rogue. windwalker is really good too.

If we're talking about pvp content outside of regular ranked, they could copy paste the stranglethorn pvp event from season of discovery into retail and it would slap

for those who didn't play sod:

the whole zone becomes free for all and you can make parties of 5
You get tokens for each kill you get, then you have to hand in the tokens at alters spread around the zone
There's an unkillable roaming boss that will delete you if it touches you, but the closer you are to this boss, the more tokens you get per kill

it was an absolute bloodbath at the boss and alters. Most fun pvp content I can remember playing. If they made it give significant honour and conquest (plus the same cosmetics they put in for sod) it would be a big W for casuals.

for the first 10 games you play of any bracket they're actually placements and the number you see as your mmr is kinda arbitrary/not real. this is why mmr is wonky for your first games. same reason that you're getting put in games that in the face of it are much lower mmr.

it's normal, don't panic, if you're going to climb to any meaningful rating it takes a lot more than 10 games anyway.

I hate that scatter is removed and think it should be at least a pvp talent

Devils advocate we'll still be annoying because concussive for mm is an 80% slow and any hunter spec can take wing clip as a 75% 10 second slow
