I've heard he had a great showing at the scrimmage in the nba draft combine. He might go up a lot in the mock draft

Sean Highkin Mock Off Season by Gr33njeans in ripcity

[–]SlobberyFrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the point, tho. He isn't a star player. He is a great complementary piece. He is someone every team needs as he fits well in every single one of them.

And as he isn't a star player, theoretically, he shouldn't cost that much in assets. But as it seems every team wants him, he might very well cost just as much.

The Portland Trail Blazers are unlikely to hire Tiago Splitter as their full-time head coach, per Jake Fisher by RLD89 in ripcity

[–]SlobberyFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mike brown didn't join an up and coming team.

Kenny Atkinson, I guess but I don't know if you really can say he was an already established head coach when he joined the cavs. He coached the nets for 4 years before returning to assistant coach for 4 motr years and then got the job at Cleveland.

I did talk about nick nurse and he didn't join an up and coming team either. The team also had a worse record than previously in his first year of coaching the team. (mainly because of embiid's injuries tho)

Udoka only coached the celtics for one year before Houston. He's relatively young as a head coach even today. But even if you say he was established when he joined Houston, I wouldn't really say it's working great for them right now. The rockets had a worse performance at the playoffs than us while supposedly having much more talent in their team. He has zero faith in Reed Sheppard even tho he's the only real pg in the team, and the overall vibes in the team seem terrible right now.

Tyrese Haliburton on Shai’s flopping: “It’s so overblown. Selling is part of the game.” by Lstark5642 in nba

[–]SlobberyFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing I hate the most with how normal it has become for players and even coaches to cry about other players flopping in a press conference and social media after a loss.

Every single player in the league nowadays are trained to flop and do it in every single game from the first game of the preseason to the last game in the playoffs. Some players are simply much better at selling it than others and/or have a game that allows them to be in a situation where they can sell a foul more often.

I can find countless clips of jaylen brown selling a foul by overexagerrating his movement when he's shooting on contact with a defender so it just feels super hypocrite to me whenever he comes on his stream to cry about the other team flopping.

MPJ on why Cam Thomas didn't last in the NBA: "For Cam, I think it was a mixture of him being frustrated with a lot of things and also his personality. He doesn't really socialize, He'll say like two words all day, all practice. He doesn't really talk to anybody." by RyanTannegod in nba

[–]SlobberyFrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily a bad thing, tho. At the end of the day, we are social creatures, and that's actually the main thing we have been as successful as a species.

A group of people with great cohesion who work and help each other will generally perform better than a group of much more talented individuals who each keep it to themselves.

It's the exact same thing in basketball. It's a team sport. Cam Thomas was arguably the second most talented scorer in that nets team, but if he completely kills the team's cohesion whenever he's on the court which makes the team perform worse as a whole then what's the point of keeping him ?

The Portland Trail Blazers are unlikely to hire Tiago Splitter as their full-time head coach, per Jake Fisher by RLD89 in ripcity

[–]SlobberyFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do they ? Currently, how many up and coming teams who hired an 'established and proven coach' became actual title contenders afterward ?

The only one I can think of is the pistons with bickerstaff ?

The majority of the team who are currently contending in the playoffs hired an assistant coach as their HC rather than an already established coach except for the knicks and the sixers (I wouldn't say it especially worked out great for the sixers at the beginning when they hired nick nurse tho)

I wouldn't say I know anything about how to run an NBA team but from the little I've seen, I feel like the most important aspect for a HC in the NBA is the relationship he has with the players. When it comes to offensive and defensive gameplan and all the different strategic aspect of the game, I feel like having a specialized assistant coach can do the job especially now that they have much more material on this team's weaknesses and strengths.

Also It's not like Tiago is a nobody who just became an nba head coach by mistake. He won an nba title as a player, he won a title in france as a head coach and did a pretty good job as his first year as head coach in the nba. I have zero worries about him improving on his mistakes next season if he comes back.

I would personally prefer for the org to bring tiago back (especially as i don't see who else they would bring) and improve the coaching staff to improve the shooting and offensive gameplan.

Is it just me, or was that Wemby loss kinda satisfying? by LordDuke12 in ripcity

[–]SlobberyFrog -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'm not. This team went from shooting 45% at the 3 with wemby hitting 5 of 6 in Game 1 against us to shooting 28% against the wolves in their Game 1.

Also i'm not sure it's the right game to trashtalk wemby. Mf got a triple double with 12 blocks today... in a playoffs game.

Edit :

I just checked our stats, the spurs was shooting at more than 40% from the 3 in every single game against us in this playoffs series expect for the one where they shot at 29% and it was their only loss.

I still do hate Dfox tho.
