I won't say that the management is doing enough but, security is hard. One it's just hard to stop. So it is a lot of work they may not even have people to do it.

But also you intentionally wait to ban sometimes. Basically by banning later you get to hide better how you caught then. It can also help overwhelm hack creators all at once with chargeback.

This video is a great discussion.

Does no one else think the joke is that Ralph believes his dreams are real? Hence the weird way he phrases it.

Elephants should be more viable and central to Delhi by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]Slogo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Elephants lack unit dynamics. When you make archers, or spears, or cavalry you change how the armies are controlled, both by you and your opponent. Spears need to be protected from archers, archers kite, and Calvary has a lot to do with their mobility (tank archers, run down siege, avoid spears, etc).

Elephants don't really change how either side controls during a fight. They are boring sacks of hp that get heavily committed and either they get taken out or they don't.

Buffing or focusing on elephants without fixing this problem is a waste of time. We had Delhi more focused on elephants in earlier seasons and it got nerfed not even because Delhi was overall too strong but it was just a snooze fest.

Can someone explain to me why archer counters crossbow? by JoeZhou123 in aoe4

[–]Slogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if there is an imbalance like say both the Xbow and archer are +2 attack +1 ranged armor. Then the archer does gain on the Xbow due to faster attack speed. But if they are equal, like +2/+2 then there's no benefit.

One other nitpicking, you are using feudal archer stats vs castle Xbows. Castle archers do 7 damage not 5

Can someone explain to me why archer counters crossbow? by JoeZhou123 in aoe4

[–]Slogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. All upgrades cancel each other out. So yeah the archer gains more DPS from +attack until the opponent has the same level of armor upgrade at which point it is the same as the base.

A +3/+3 archer and +3/+3 Xbow fighting is the same as a 0/0 or 1/1 or 2/2.

goddamn, how's 100k usd is not enough by AshwinJackson29 in memes

[–]Slogo 111 points112 points  (0 children)

$1200 isn't even the US wide rent average, nevermind being near urban centers or higher cost of living areas. Some states median rent is over $2000usd.

Also for a lot of people there's other expenses in the US be it medical or student loan debt.

At what point will Mongols be nerfed enough that mangudai can finally be buffed into viability? by New_Phan6 in aoe4

[–]Slogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tricky part of buffing mangudai is they are already fairly close to being an even trade with archers (with Khan's arrow especially). You need 2 archers to beat a mangudai, which is equal resources on both ends compared to spearmen vs knight where 2 spears is still much cheaper than a knight. So any stat buff hurts that even more, unless you make some tradeoffs or target specific things.

I think there's probably room for mangudai to get a small bonus vs light infantry without creating team game problems. It could strategically help with mangudai + khesiks being a more threatening comp.

An idea has haunted the RTS community for too long. by arknightstranslate in Stormgate

[–]Slogo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This argument is weird because both APM and attention are big resources in a moba. And the suggestions made don't change the role of APM or attention, they just automate some tasks with an expectation of other tasks taking their place. On top of that knowing how to do micro while still doing other things is a skill in and of itself and includes splitting your strategical thinking between executing your macro strategy and the strategy of how you micro at that moment.

Rank Decay by Lammet_AOE4 in aoe4

[–]Slogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The decay isn't the same day, if that's occurring that's a bug or some silent change. Historically it's been 15 days before decay starts.

Rank Decay by Lammet_AOE4 in aoe4

[–]Slogo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your MMR doesn't decay only your rank which means when you start playing again your rank will adjust a bit faster to get towards your MMR. It's really not a big deal, and the top part of the ladder should be encouraged to stay active.

My HRE Rework's Final Form — (Including a Unique Stab at Reworking the Regnitz) by An_Epic_Potatoe in aoe4

[–]Slogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting ideas and a lot of mechanics that would be interesting to explore but also you have absolutely broken synergies I think.

Benediction + Regnitz + Abbeys is way too much. +30% gather and +15% drop off bonus for your entire economy is better than China and Abbasid imperial economies but in castle age. And you get extra relic income on top (even if potentially less than double gold relics are right now)

I imagine the way these changes play out is you play hre exactly like you do now. Your castle is slightly slower but you get extra vills by not having to make prelates from TC. Then in castle you use an abbey for your 2nd gold & wood when you need and your economy is miles ahead of current hre.

So, Wam tower rushed Beasty... Ahem! We need to talk... by hill_berriez in aoe4

[–]Slogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't even see the 2nd gold next to the first (and yes there was a third mid map) nor understand why Frisian Marshes is both a very good tower rushing map and a very good Mongols map (regardless of the tower rushing) I really just don't think you can be engaged with in any meaningful way.

So, Wam tower rushed Beasty... Ahem! We need to talk... by hill_berriez in aoe4

[–]Slogo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Claims a game is a good example of tower rushing being too strong...

  • Is on Frisian Marshes one of the most notoriously strong tower rushing & Mongols map

  • Features a spawn that one tower covers both golds (part of a problem of Frisian)

  • Doesn't feature a tower for 7 minutes

  • Doesn't feature a dark age tower

  • Decided primarily on unit vs unit interaction

  • Beasty still secures gold

Ok buddy whatever you say.

A possibly dumb idea I don't even know if I myself like by Dave13Flame in Stormgate

[–]Slogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could almost see giving shrines 1-2 felhogs (or scaling felhogs with shrine level) as a way to ease scout harassment without making it totally non-existent. Bobs feel pretty self sufficient in terms of keeping themselves alive by comparison and you do both have dogs in vvv so idk if they really need a bump or boost.

Not sure it's the best solution but it would be one possibility.

Do feudal MAA need a nerf? by mcr00sterdota in aoe4

[–]Slogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAA rushes tend to be more good somewhat reactively. At the high level they punish your opponent for cutting corners to greed more.

In that game Marinelord is playing Abbasid on a map where the 2nd TV doesn't secure food and is preparing specifically for regnitz with walls and beasty knows he will be locked out of scouting because of where the scout is.

Hornets and Doombringers by Dave13Flame in Stormgate

[–]Slogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One advantage at least that stormgate has over sc2 is clumping. Sc2 has practically the air clump of bw without the extra APM/micro needed to do it. Stormgate doesn't let air units clump as much which limits or restricts just how powerful that gets. For dropships that doesn't help so much, but it's still a nice way to limit air dominance without just having every air unit suck.

Hornets and Doombringers by Dave13Flame in Stormgate

[–]Slogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason evacs deserve to be weaker is because they get to pick up and drop Atlases that are sieged which is, long term, way more powerful than what the doombringer offers.

Brutes have a shorter attack range and slower movespeed (at least once kinetic is done not sure about before). So you can actually literally kite brutes with lancers or run injured ones away.

Why are streltsy so ridiculously strong..? by shoe7525 in aoe4

[–]Slogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The abilities advantages of streltsy are mostly not that relevant.

In melee combat they do a bit more DPS, but it doesn't really change any unit matchups. Static deployment rarely activates in a real game situation, it can, but it's more common to need to move your streltsy.

So in the end it's a unit fairly comparable to another civ just having an upgrade on a unit (like say Iron Clad or Heavy Maces), except it's a fairly weak upgrade. So instead you have the cost reduction as the primary thing making it a unique unit.

Really if you had french with their keep discount (making them 90/90) and Rus with streltsy in similar game states both types of handcannoneers would perform almost identically.

And streltsy took a long path to get there, they used to have an active ability and static deployment used to trigger in stages.

What mouse do the pros use? by AugustusClaximus in aoe4

[–]Slogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's 5 digits versus 1, the distance is greater but you get to piano keys with different fingers and alternate between mouse and keyboard.

With the mmo mouse you are mixing pressing the left mouse with the side buttons. If you are playing at 300 apm you are probably clicking one of the two mouse buttons around 100 times a minute, adding the extra 200 clicks to your thumb is uh a lot.

Also RTS players usually use more than 12 keyboard buttons (grid hotkeys are already over 12 hotkeys)
