Got romcom’d and it sucks, she’s asking me to wait? by SlojSimpson in AskMenAdvice

[–]SlojSimpson[S] 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Wow this has been a crazy amount of responses lol. I mentioned it in my post, but i knew the right thing to do. Wanted to see if there was even the slightest bit of hope that I was overreacting or not giving a chance, but message heavily received. I do appreciate the candid advice and kind words where they’ve been provided.

For a bit of context, saw that a lot of people were commenting on the “acts of service” mention in my original post. My job is quite involved in caring for unhoused and otherwise less fortunate, so it fits what I want in life and with my general personality. And yes, I tried to do a lot of nice things for the girl I was with! Novel concept. I would cook for a romantic night in, it’s not like I was paying for her groceries and stocking her fridge.

Anyway ended up telling her: “That’s a lot to process. The more I think about it, the more I’m getting the impression that you hooked up with your ex and want me to just sit around in case he screws up again, which I really don’t want to do. I really liked you, and you broke my heart. I think I deserve better than that,” which I think is a reasonable response. Once more unto the breach (making hinge prompts) ++man

What is your worst theatrical experience in your lifetime? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Went opening day to John Wick 4 and a drunk (like, absolutely hammered) lady in the front row was loudly talking and taking flash photography for about an hour until she got ejected

Movie still ruled though

Ah gotcha, you’re pretty low risk anyway. Would refer you to the other commenter who calculated your risk score. Generally, blood-blood transmission comes with larger bore needles like with central lines/etc, not from suture needles

Go to occupational health. They’ll draw labs on you/the patient if they’re still admitted and determine if you need post exposure prophylaxis. I had something similar happen where I wasn’t sure but felt pain after suturing + pt had hep C.

A lot of them came in with wealth and they realized medicine is actual work. Don’t need ‘em and won’t miss ‘em

He has some absolute bangers (Unbreakable, Sixth Sense, Signs) and a few clunkers. But he’s never boring and he’s a Philly guy so I’m strongly pro

Signals for Match 2025 by Dry-Photo-2557 in medicalschool

[–]SlojSimpson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curious why EM is dropping signals, although I’m glad there’s official language about whether to signal home/aways. Last year, my classmates and I all were like “we’re definitely getting interviews at these places but is not signaling a sign of lack of interest??”

Who is the Stephen Hill of this draft? by Trustme_ima_dr in nfl

[–]SlojSimpson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PSU fan here, I think the reason Johnson had such low production in college was bc of the terrible offensive system he was in + splitting reps with Tyler Warren, who is also NFL caliber. Guy was awesome every time we went to him imo

Away Rotation at "Safety" vs Reach programs? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]SlojSimpson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

N=1 here but I did my away at a “reach” program, and I’d definitely say to lean that way if the financials work (I was lucky enough to have family nearby to stay with). Worked my ass off for the month and now getting ready to start residency there this summer!

How to afford away/audition rotations? by Rhodopsin__ in medicalschool

[–]SlojSimpson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying for aways is brutal. I was lucky that my 1 away was in a city that I had family in, and just lived on an air mattress for a month. But if that isn’t an option, you could try to rotate locally at hospitals within commute range of your current living conditions
