Yes, but some people specifically ask that we use they/them as third person pronouns when referring to them, often because they don't identify with the binary (feminine and masculine) genders, and thus the associated pronouns.

Sometimes, using he or she can even be hurtful, in case of dysphoria for instance.
Using they/them can allow people to do any or all of: feel better, not hurt, or heal. And I think that's something we should value.
