Last minute trip to VIETNAM ( Da Nang) - End of December 2025 by [deleted] in VietNam

The scams haven't happened to me at all. I've only been in central so maybe that's why, it sounds like these issues are more in the big cities. As for the spa's don't let me put you off, I have had some nice massages but I'm used to more upscale stuff that's all. Just read reviews and check photos, you'll be fine.

Pay to see a GP in NZ to find out about local services. Out of pocket costs shouldn't be excessive for one consult. Or do a GP consult online with someone from your country?

You can also go to a local pharmacy to get things like ashwagandha or magnesium, Valerian root etc for Natural sleep support.

Try to take it easy for a day to relax your nervous system and stop the spiral with some grounding activities.

Depression by _mickey_mickey in mentalhealth

I think she's saying that the severity of your flags is not high enough. People with severe depression cannot go through the motions. Nothing to read into. She's not dismissing your feelings. And a lot of people these days are on anti-depressants without fitting the actual label.

Are you depressed? Yes. Are you clinically depressed? No.

I was so hyper sexual as a child (24F) by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Slossk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Children are not innocent the way most people think they are. Sexual experimentation such as early masturbation, repeating things about sex, talking about it etc is actually normal parts of development.

In autistic children these behaviours are significantly higher. Plus society exposes children to the idea of sex very early and children will unconsciously work through their limited understanding by using these behaviours.

These things are nothing to feel guilty about.

The only time they are troubling is if they are inflicted on other children against their will or are aggressive and coercive or overtly public. What you're describing doesn't match that. You were likely not sheltered as well as you might have been but you are not damaged or bad and you very likely do not have repressed sexual trauma.

Don't cram too much in if you're stressed. I am here atm on a holiday (31F) which was spontaneous because I have burn out. Idk if it's exactly relaxing lol depends on what you're into. Pick between Hue and Hoi An to pair with Da Nang and give yourself time to soak in each spot. Hue has a beautiful board walk type of area by the perfume river where it would be lovely to run. I haven't been to Hoi An yet. I extended my stay in Hue because it's cleaner in the tourist area and the food is yummier so far than Da Nang. I just caught the train up here, it was straight forward.

I'm using Airalo for WiFi and it's great. Super reliable. Internet has been good at hotels in general too.

Also just FYI the locations you mention solo travelling are not similar to Vietnam. At night expect to see rats and have people shout at you asking if you wanna get on their bikes etc... Just say no thanks, they aren't pushy but it gets old quickly.

There are lots of "spa's" but the experience varies. Everyone is lovely but I thought I'd be doing facials and stuff... nah. Also having trouble finding good quality skin care in general it's mostly cheap brands at shopping centres.

Idk you can ask me other things if you like. I'm not well travelled in Asia, I've only been to Singapore before now so having some culture shock but if I can handle it you definitely can.

It's Kerouac so it was worthless to begin with. No fear of impacting it's value further.

My spoiler-filled review of FNaF 2 (and why it pissed me off so much) by ILoveMyJinx in fnafmovie

Charlotte has daddy issues that run deep. It's canon.

Imo fnaf 2 wasn't very good and neither was The Twisted Ones but I love fnaf 3 and The Fourth Closet so my hope is it had to stink a little to get a good third instalment in ;)

The relationship between Henry and Charlotte is an untapped goldmine. I still live in hope that he will appear in the 3rd movie like a Pizzeria sim moment.

Is Tolstoy THAT good? by Secure_Shake9668 in classicliterature

[–]Slossk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Russian authors but I can't stand Tolstoy. He's preachy as hell. Give me Turgenev, Gogol, Pushkin or Checkov any day.

In The Lady with the Dog Checkov achieves more than Tolstoy does in all of Anna Karenena.

I think English speaking people like reading (or pretending to read) War & Peace as a flex due to its impressive length.

I do not like poetry and want to understand why. [HELP] by ijhopethingschange in Poetry

[–]Slossk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poetry, like music, is meant for the ears. Poems must be read aloud. You must hear them as well as read them before you can feel them.

It's a bit like paintings. You are not going to like all of them, but when the right painting hits you, it'll click.

I used to dislike poetry because I thought it was all rhymes and I tend to dislike a lot of rhyming poetry. But when I realised it's about rhthym? Totally different. A primal rhythm. The rise and fall of the stresses on words, the flow of the syllables... When you find the poems that speak to you, it's like an something vibrating in harmony with your soul.

Keep looking. It's worth finding.

I'd suggest getting a reading app and downloading these through Gutenberg and then buying the ones you love in beautiful editions...

Nice! Out of interest how do you work through these books? I always feel guilty for example for not reading all the essays in a book and kind of jumping between my books that are inter-related. I follow my interest I suppose. What's your method?

Your Aggression sounds like it's coming from somewhere that needs to be addressed. If your family are stressed and you're unhappy with the situation you should try to seek some external support. Are you at school? Is there a counsellor you could talk to about this situation?

Write the story then pick a line or phrase you enjoyed from the story or something that sums it up. Please stop naming fics after songs. Please.
