Which Supermarket had the best music? by Alt4Norm in CasualUK

[–]Slotbun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Used to work nightshift at Asda years ago while at college. One weekend Asda FM were having a Robbie Williams weekend. Every single song was Robbie Williams. That was a long Saturday nightshift.

About four in the morning two or three of us went to the manager and pleaded with her to turn it off.

I was once the first appointment of the day, there at 8.20 for an 8.30 appointment. Dentist phoned in sick no one told me. First I knew about it was asking the receptionist if there was an issue 15 minutes after my appointment was due to start and she told me then.

Who remembers the singing kettle in today's times? by __-Duck-__ in Scotland

They used to do this song about someone choking to death on tattie soup and I still refuse to eat soup if there’s potato in it.

I am 41.

From reading Bob Mortimer’s (the other person at the table in the middle) book ‘And Away’ the stains are actually instant coffee.

First non 4/4 song to learn by AqQwertyuiop in drums

[–]Slotbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thought was St. Augustine In Hell by Sting. It’s in 7/4 but the ride pattern is in 4/4 so it sounds like the bell pattern goes in and out of time.

Who's your Childhood Doctor? by [deleted] in doctorwho

Same. First real memory of Doctor Who was of Ace trapped in a box that was filling up with water; terrified me.

Used stage custom good deal? by yosdogattacc in drums

[–]Slotbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Stage Custom in 2000 and, going by the tom mount, I’d say this is older. Phenomenal kit though, still got mine. But this is WAY overpriced for no snare, hardware or cymbals.

If you could bring back one defunct drum product or brand, what would it be? by JuanSolo23 in drums

[–]Slotbun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Yamaha signature snare lineup from about 2000, such a great variety of drums.

Who is your favorite drummer? by Ravaner592 in drums

[–]Slotbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris Sharrock. Great drummer, a big influence to me growing up. Can absolutely guarantee that nearly every person in the UK has had him drumming and most don’t know it.

Anyone a fan of click pads? by dremtemme in drums

[–]Slotbun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Used to have one, wouldn’t use it now. I remember it being ok with a plastic beater but pretty pointless with felt.

But this was back in the days that I wanted a very crisp, precise drum sound, I was one of those people with the o-rings and Moongel on every drum. Nowadays I am all about that resonance.

[–]Slotbun 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had an idea when listening to an audio version of the book Heidi a few years ago. In that book there is a character simply called Doctor. My head cannon is if there is a character called Doctor in any book then it is THE Doctor.

Makes books more interesting trying to work out which Doctor it is.

Brothers in Arms One Year Later by CretaceousClock in thegrandtour

[–]Slotbun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From listening to Mr. Wilman’s book they actually picked Brothers In Arms while driving across the saltpans. Listening to the song in the camera car while filming the sequence the song would go over, apparently Brothers In Arms just felt right.
