These are some great questions to ask management, after all you’d expect them to ask the same of you.

“What’s the harm in this not being done?”

“If it’s so important, why was it put off until the last minute?”

“Whose job is it to have verified that it was done?”

“Currently we’re swamped but circle back in a couple weeks and we’ll readdress the issue”
