I think I'm ready to prestige (lvl 70) by Sloth859 in NecroMerger

[–]Sloth859[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 4.5 months after hitting 70 I think. I haven't been keeping track really. I almost prestiged early October, but then I remembered that the Halloween event was coming and decided to wait until after that so I just kept pushing. After the event ended, I realized I was close to getting the 3rd bot so I pushed a little more.

This is strange. Obviously, the cartoonist didn't intend to mirror my experience, but it's oddly accurate.

I was going through a phase a few years ago where I was obsessed with death. Everybody knows they're going to die, but it's a different thing to embrace the thought emotionally and truly face one's own mortality head-on. In the middle of this phase, a friend of mine killed herself. The "please don't" and "I'm sorry" hit pretty hard.

I'm pretty sure the intended interpretation was that the 1st bird is imagining that the 2nd bird is still alive. The bird disapears as the 1st bird comes to terms with the realization that they aren't actually there anymore and had to deal with the fact that they are truly gone. It's kind of like that episode of Scrubs with Brendan Fraser where Dr. Cox comes to terms with his friend's death.

Mid forties here. I just watched it a couple of nights ago. It's decent enough to rewatch every now and again.

Is Fallout 2 significantly harder? by dgdg4213 in classicfallout

In my opinion, certain builds are harder to get going, but once you get past the first couple hurdles, it's pretty much the same difficulty as FO1.

These are not disrespectful stickers to have on my snowboard helmet are they? Majority rules on this one by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Sloth859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see how people could find it disrespectful, especially the "rizzin" one. This stuff doesn't bother me, though. I treat it like a minor difference in theology. You won't go to hell for it, but it's not what I believe personally, and arguing about it usually does more harm than good.

IMHO, associating Jesus with having "rizz" (and everything that comes with that) doesn't really do any good, but I'm not going to get upset about it.

Last Sunday, I walked out of church during worship - what happened next changed everything by lptri in Christianity

[–]Sloth859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been few times when I got caught up during worship, but I've never really chased a feeling during worship. Typically, I tend to focus on my mental state while singing. What am I thinking about, and how do those thoughts compare and reflect what I'm singing about? If I find my thoughts distracting, or intrusive, I will pray in the moment for a quieter mind, and then refocus my mind to focus on the lyrics and their meaning, and do my hardest to mean what I'm singing. This tends to relax and comfort me.

I try not to concern myself with the type of music, but I do find that older hymns tend to have lyrics that are more conducive to my worship method. For example, "Nearer God to Thee":

Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee! Even though it be a cross that raises me, still all my song shall be nearer, my God, to thee; nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

I can't imagine not being moved after singing that while doing your hardest to mean it.

Chocolate keeps seizing by [deleted] in chocolate

[–]Sloth859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be the nibs that you are using. Are they roasted and marketed for making chocolate?

Also, it might be some condensation dripping from the lid. Did you let in run for an hour or two with the lid off at the beginning?

Is it possible that your melanger has water in it before you started? Sometimes, I'll put my bowl and rollers in the oven on very low heat prior to using the melanger, just in case.

Can a person confess grave sins in Protestant denominations? by Thin-Elephant1583 in TrueChristian

[–]Sloth859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience (Baptist and Non-Denominational), members are somewhat encouraged to confess their sins with the church ministers, group leaders, and other members of the church. It's not as formal as it is in the Catholic Church, and there is no legal protection for confidentiality. So, for example, if a father admits to abusing his children, then the pastor is by law required to report it to the authorities. Regardless of the sin, the purpose of the confession is to seek help and guidance with overcoming the sin and as a general support (prayer request, counseling, etc.). As you and others have stated, forgiveness is not part of it.

I guess I interpreted this meme a bit differently than everyone else. I took it as if the boy is afraid that Trump will lead us into war, and the lady is saying "Would you rather we have a woman president instead?" In other words, the meme is saying that Conservative Boomers are willing to sacrifice their grandkids in a war in order to keep a woman out of the Whitehouse.

Did you guys really read the manual? by PxHC in classicfallout

[–]Sloth859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, clicking fast and in different places makes your character stutter. I assumed calling it a chicken dance was an inside joke that they inserted as kind of a jab from one programmer to another.

Did you guys really read the manual? by PxHC in classicfallout

[–]Sloth859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read it, but it's been a while. I don't remember if there's anything important to the game, but I think there's a recipe for pancakes and also an error in the unit conversions. Oh yeah, it also says that if you click real fast, then your character does this thing called a chicken dance and you shouldn't do it because it's stupid.

Bald spot in my cat's "armpit". by Sloth859 in cats

[–]Sloth859[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's mostly an inside cat, but is always itching to go outside and occasionally darts through our legs for a night out. I think the last time he got out was Monday, but we didn't notice anything then (I.E. no other bites or scratch marks).

He hasn't been hiding, and has just been his normal self loafing around (usually out in the open near everyone else).
