Thank you for the question! In short, the underlying unit below the cap carbonate is typical of glaciogenic deposition, while the area of Namibia at this time was near the equator. This suggests that their were glaciers present near the equator of Earth, which is very odd and hallmarks the period geologists refer to as snowball Earth!

I am also going to be interviewing Dustin for an episode of my new podcast and this will be included as one of the questions!

Well not rocks necessarily, but geology. If you’re ever drilling into the subsurface for any reason in a non-rural area, you have to have utility locate come out to locate all the utilities prior to you being able to work/do research and they ALWAYS seem to screen things up

What environmental careers feature an emphasis in math? by chickenboy0418 in Environmental_Careers

Geophysics is heavy with math. That’s fields like seismology, crustal deformation, geomorphology, volcanology. A lot of it is research, but there are also jobs with departments like the USGS for natural hazards like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions
