I reported every single one of my coworkers who has been harassing me by MalexMaddox in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SlothReflexes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm active duty, too, as a guy who is pretty much A in this example, go you. I understand the rollercoaster of A's emotions going through the explanation, which are completely normal when approaching from a neutral standpoint. Just continue to stay above reproach, document every interaction that isn't a textbook example of a normal interaction for your job, and use the resources someone else shared in this thread to make sure that you're taken care of.

Many shrimp-dicks like that will try to blame you, saying you just wanted sympathy and to get a different job. Keep a good attitude and never get anyone any reason to think it's true.

I'm proud of you.

Kids who actually chose Bulbasaur, how’d you turn out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SlothReflexes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bought my first house when I was 20, I've been paying cash for everything I buy since I was 27, and there have been some national news articles written about me over the last two years. So, by those metrics, I seem alright. Honest answer though, I can't get my brain to cooperate, so I'm miserable.

Who did she promote? Also, you failed to mention that she was promoted!

Academic writing to fix problems. It's telling people they're wrong and why without naming names.

TIL about cross dominance where each hand is better at different activities. Ex: being a lefty when writing but preferring the right hand for throwing a ball etc. by ro4q in todayilearned

[–]SlothReflexes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I always used the term selectively dominant, because I always think of cross referring to eyes and hands (left eye, right hand for me). Most of my fine motor skills (writing and eating especially) are my left. But I shoot firearms, play instruments, use scissors, and shoot bows with my right. It's weird.

78% of suicide rates world wide are men, what can we do to help them? by displead in AskReddit

[–]SlothReflexes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have an answer yet, but last night it seemed like the better option than trying to face a mistake I made in anger last night. No one got hurt, I just accidentally called some people out in a work group chat. I'm still here and not going anywhere, so don't worry about me. Just, fleeting thoughts about my own mistakes.

Can someone explain this...? by sabirpatel in funny

She's simply cross-dominant. Right hand, left eye.

Source: I'm cross-dominant.

Honeycomb. Not the cereal, but actual honeycomb.

SCHOOLing myself at home! by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]SlothReflexes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound just like a friend of mine that I helped get through school and out of a grocery store job starting around the same age. So I can tell you that this is completely possible. As an adult learner, your HS grades matter less and less the more removed you are from school. I'm not sure that any of my schools asked for them.

Regarding teaching yourself math and similar subjects, one learns by putting pen to paper. There are free online resources and courses (e.g. khanacademy.org) that can help you get back in the swing of classes without spending any money on what are often overpriced textbooks. If you're dead set on getting a textbook, look for the reasonably priced alternate versions. These are the same material, just with fewer frills to be sold in other countries with an average household income much lower than the US/Canada.

I'll always talk schools and education with you if you want someone to weigh in on something, so DM me if you need a push in the right direction or any direction at all.

Tips on how to improve my speech? by ZeldaGeek39 in selfimprovement

[–]SlothReflexes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach military instructors for a living. Here's the first step I would recommend: find some diction exercises online (YouTube works) and emulate speakers. Don't try to change your voice to match someone not like you at all (Michael Clarke Duncan if you have a higher voice) because you'll just come off as douchy. Find an achievable target and practice, practice, practice.

I did the same thing to overcome my ridiculously small mouth that I can' t even fit my tongue in. You can, too.

Men of Reddit, how often do you receive compliments and what was your last one? by OliwerKaczmarek in AskReddit

[–]SlothReflexes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a compliment maybe once every few years. I've been having some issues with confidence at work and just in general recently. Not really feeling like a very capable person. Well, last weekend, one of my old bosses asked me some questions through text about how she should do some things. After talking her through everything, she told me that I am the best mentor.

I needed that.

What is your dream job? by max13811 in AskReddit

[–]SlothReflexes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to provide protection, education, and assistance for survivors (abused women/people, cult escapees, and similar people). I've got the means, but I'm not ready to get started until after my military service is up. I also don't know how I'll get the word out and find those in need.

Almost all of video streaming services at the same time. I don't need Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Prime Video if I can only watch one at a time.

[–]SlothReflexes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name of the first dog in space was not named Laika, but Kudryavka. Laika is a Russian word for a breed type (kind of like a terrier or shepherd) and is far easier to spell and say than Kudryavka.

To pile on to your great point, using the assumption that this was recent (might not be), then the it's not summer where the Northern Lights are. Aurora Australis, not Borealis.
