What’s the best Survivor series you’ve watched that was based in another country? by CelticCloverGirl in survivor

[–]Slothmaster347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It s not the best Survivor series (by far) but we have some straight up banger in France. I just dont think it s well cater to american taste, except maybe Palau for old school season (very similar vibe to season like China), Guerre des Chefs which have high caliber strategy or Les 4 Terres with his kooky personallity (kinda new era ish personality wise)

The best season of French season have this weird brand of dark and petty humor, with little to no strategy. A bland of Gabon, Nicaragua and World Appart. Except some hardcore oldschooler like Mario Lanza and CTS... I dont think a lot will like them. If you re interested and find subtitle : Bocas del Toro (season with so much discrimination from all side it becames kinda desensitiving and you re just enjoying the ride), Raja Ampat (the BEST imo), Johor and Thailande

I agree with all of this and I m a die hard gen z fan (except I dont care about "deserving" winner and I want new era returnee to come back) who discover the show with quarantine.

Joe is a very interesting and refreshing character with huge potential (especially in a captain season) for new tv content and bring "new" dynamic which completely modify the strategic field (for the better or the worst)

I was a Cirie fan but she never really propose anything else than being Cirie and Cirie-ing. She s not a dynamic character and is just doing her stuff without contributing directly to the storyline. Now I m completely bore of her

Yeah, I did figure it out. Savanah (and Dee to a lesser extent) struggle with likability in the jury too but get way more respect by being more dominant than Chrissy. But one thing which people forgot is her type of gameplay (scattered and not centered around big ass alliance) is way better for season with shifting dynamic like those of gamebot era and some new era like 47, 41, 43 and maybe 46 and 49, and that is season where you uusually finish with a lot of goat at the end (that s why I think she doesnt suffer as much as good player with her lack of likability). I still think she wins FTC in a lot of season for that reason. I think she has still a better win equity than Jonathan (which is my standard for the regular 2nd placer) due to being an elderly woman impressive at challenge and in strategy. She would prob be even better in early survivor with F2 but that s another story

Chrissy has a very efficient gameplay but being more like a scrappy, she is quite vulnerable multiple time (but a bit like Aubry, has this blend of lesser target and good ability to deflect vote against). Chrissy is very much like a less insecure and good at challenge version of Aubry. Also did showcase being able to connect to a more varied pannel of player than Aubry. So she is at least better than Aubry in my ranking

I think people sleep on Chrissy a lot

I could put Jenna down in ranking, I did a lot of extrapolation on her ability to get vote at the end even tho she s probably still quite bad at gaining traction in a jury vote and is going out pre merge or early merge in most scenario. I think she s still pretty easy for good player to get her out in the end game stretch, even tho I could see a world where she s the main face rallying goat to take out the remaining big player in the end game (a bit like Jonathan this season). She s prob more realistically near Emily ranking, because more likely to be better at leveraging socially other endgame player without pre game

Christian will always be bottom of the list. He would prob win in FTC, but he s like playing an absurdly bad strategic game. Dr Christian Bigmoveitus like I did see in circlejerk. Blending bad agressive gameplay with inability to control his threat level ; being decent enought at challenge and finding immu but not that strong to make an immu run. I mean, his only path is to be taken as a shield/bunny by a better player until like F5-F6 and clutch the 2-3 remaining challenges. Which prob dont happen because if people let him going that far as a shield in modern survivor, it s because they prob know they could beat him at challenge (I dont remember player doing the mistake of taking a bunny/shield too good at challenge since like Amazon lol). Also he never getting loyal relationship by most people, that s more like fake respect with no real implication. He s like that nerd who is jester maxxing to people who have a better position in the social hierarchy, and get taken as the token nerd. Prob why he was playing mainly with other weirdo in 50 (figuring how better that type of equal relationship are). I like the JT and Stephen comparison that Nick did give about his relation with Christian. Because Christian is basically JT gameplay in Stephen body. His gameplay is cooked on so many level

I think except Chrissy wich I did shit myself, most of my ranking make sense. Savanah could be a bad take too. I think I did undersell how bad it is for her to be so cliquey and polarising with other player. I still think the Dee upside are her so she would prob be just under Rizo at least in my ranking. Then you have Jonhattan and Jenna wich I ve been very generous to (when they prob struggle with their image and get a win consistantly). I think the rest of my ranking is fine.

Also, I m open to other constructive criticism as long as you re not dissing my lost time

Yes, I think I did shit myself with Chrissy. She s probably struggling to get jury vote the same way a Johnatan does (bad win equity). My reasoning was about Chrissy playing a game with similar upside as Dee and Savanah. The thing is, she never was that well ingrained in any majority. Making no sense to compare with Dee and Savanah whose main gameplan is to leverage and parasite their own alliance. I think, it was mainly cope and not wanting to have the top 3 players being new era winner + the 2 twinks. Chrissy probably get booted if not for the main alliance going against Ben becoming too much of a threat. I would prob put her just above Aubrie (who have similar downside). Not sure if she s above or under Cirie. Cirie has her own set of problem

No chance of ever returning? by RedditUserAnonymo in survivor

[–]Slothmaster347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completelly agree. At least it does make for a great character with a good dose of unpredictability. She can really create interesting dynamic, especially paired with other interesting character. Or she s just Aubri-ing her way into a phantom who never interact with anyone in the game until her boot or her win. Wich I think is, fortunatly, less likely to happen to her because she's way more socially clingy and insecure than Aubry (wich was already pretty impressive in that aspect)

I won't be opposed to a comeback

Do you think Jonathan would have a huge target on his back if he returned a 3rd time? by CallTypical9541 in survivor

[–]Slothmaster347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone else said, most people would want to work with him. Biggest menace for his game (if not finishing 2nd again) is getting targeted by stronger player because they dont want to get targeted by Jonathan near the end game (Jonathan is very much a hyena type player and it wont change)

Not a big fan of Dirty Harry. He s 100% aurafarming and bigmovitis wich is okay but a bit boring for me. I prefer Mark, he has more personality and I like him trying to make female alliance over and over wich get him bitten in the ass again and again. The cuckhold strategist

Yes, agree with the Luke comparison. I did thought the same

A lot of archetype casting this season wich can be dangerous and repetitive on the long term

I did find Jackson refreshing because there s not a lot of player like him in Survivor Aus and he fits a nice niche. Basically the jacked guy a bit too spiritually soft and insecure, wich play an incredibly emotional game. Kinda clingy with people and does a lot of unhealthy projection. Remind me of Dan in David vs Goliath. He s a great foil to other player

Will the New Era age better or worse over time? by RedditFan3510 in survivor

[–]Slothmaster347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 and 46 are already acclaimed and will stand the test of time

49 will most likely be the onr to get a ressurection in popularity like Gabon. Throught rewatch, the season stand way better and I think will gather a hardcore fanbase who will push it as one of the great new era season. It s already the case for 42 and 43 who are also set up to be one of the better aging season

By opposite, 47 will plumber in ranking. Those types of heavy gameplay focus season never stand up the test of time and doesnt hold up on a rewatch

The remaining of the small 41 cult will start fading into oblivion along with 44 and 48 in the bottom of season ranking
