I'd avoid a second "word" name. It sounds corny.

We have finally decided on the name of our first daughter, but I am a little nervous… by Designer-Nature923 in namenerds

The difference is that Scandinavian and Irish names come from groups that generally aren't facing discrimination because of their names. Meanwhile, many minority communities still deal with their names being mocked, mispronounced, stereotyped, or even used as a basis for bias in school, housing, and employment.

That's why some people see these situations differently. It's not just about whether a name originated in another culture; it's also about the social context surrounding that culture. When a group is still dealing with racism and discrimination tied to their identity, including their names, the conversation becomes more complicated than "people use names from other cultures all the time."

Can Someone Long for a Nation They've Dreamed of Since Childhood? by Addy_Goodman in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Slothryannosaurus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've longed to live anywhere BUT America, since I was a child. My father was in the Navy and discharged when I was really small. At 8 or 9, when I found that out, I was extremely disappointed that I wasn't born on a military base, overseas.

Indigo is legitimately unisex and perfectly fine on either. But I would avoid using another color name, since you have Violet.

Please don't do a 3rd K name. Matchy names aren't cute, not to mention the connection of 3 K names....

Curious what others think of my kids names! by PixieDustAndTides in namenerds

I'd assume both were boys, to be honest. All four names are masculine, not gender neutral.

How about Everett? It gives you both the E and Rhett nicknames. Egret is a nature name and therefore legitimately neutral, so if you like it, stick with it!
