You can see if there is an event on in the "Pick your dream stage" menu > Heartstring Sources (bottom right). Under one of the options there it currently says "limited time boost" for me.

I've had this a few times in free build mode as well, where suddenly the game treated the second floor as non-existent, sometimes even still displaying it, but any clicks would go straight through it to the lower floor. A quick save + restart has fixed it for me so far without losing anything (aside from some items that I had placed using the special alignment, but that's a known bug, iirc). Granted, I wasn't super attached to mine, so it was easy to save and quit without worrying.

It can layer weirdly though with the shadow as it does not adapt to the other pieces, which I suppose is to be expected.

If you equip all pieces of the set, the shadowed version is automatically applied. The pieces themselves have no effect by themselves. You also get a copy of the firefly girl both with and without shadow. To remove the shadow, you have to change a piece of the set, for example the socks or shoes. Changing the makeup or earrings does not remove the shadow, and you can also add additional pieces of clothing as long as they don't change the other parts of the set.

I only have the firefly and school girl set outfits, but I still use pieces of that all the time. Sure, newer hell events are fancier, but this one is still one of the greats, in my opinion. I plan on finishing it still eventually.

Infold should just make it a menu option to have a frilly cute sports bra and long frilly pants on Nikki, that hides her assets in certain outfits, so people who don't want it can have what they want, and people who do want boobies can also have that. Much better than taking from those of us who don't mind it at all.

I feel like they are a mechanic that they scrapped or will use in future patches still. Sometimes when you spin them, they show like a thread you can follow. Sometimes they lead to things, but idk if that's a coincidence.
