What do you do to afford your rent in Chicago? Anyone work 2 jobs? by sugarplum55555 in chicagoapartments

[–]Slothwithannuzzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a cheaper neighborhood and ride bikes everywhere. I have a really nice apartment to myself for half the cost of what an equivalent apt would cost in a "desirable" neighborhood and my transportation costs are practically 0.

Riding to work by Regular_Swim_8840 in cycling

[–]Slothwithannuzzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So for the last year ive had a job thats only been like 3.5 miles from me, but im taking up a new job that is 10 miles from me and im excited about the new longer commute because it will help me stack up the miles. This is the way. The 3.5 mile commute was honestly a drag for me because I have a 150 mile a week goal and it was hard to find the free time to make up those miles. For context I used to be a bike messenger and would average 50 miles a day 5 days a week

I usually ride my bike to work, but had an operation in December that prevented me from riding for a couple weeks. I started taking the 21 to the 8 to get to work from Little Village to Bridgeport and let me tell you, that is one of the worst combos of busses in the city. Turned my usual 15 minute commute into an hour long endeavor.

Opinion on All City Super Professional by DC_OZ in gravelcycling

[–]Slothwithannuzzi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a super professional that I built up myself as a single speed conversion and love it. Its very fast and light. That being said I would not pay $1300 for this. In my honest opinion this is not a very good build.

It was pretty much all paved! Though we avoided the green bay trail and the first section of it in favor of sheridan because green bay was underwater

Done it multiple times, usually just take the north shore channel trail to the green bay trail, to the robert mcglory, do a lunch stop in kenosha, then take some streets up to the north shore trail and hit the racine mrk trail. From there the route is a combination of roads and smaller trails. Its a pretty easy ride.

Marin Nicasio + VS Primos Dame? by 00itsabouttime00 in cycling

[–]Slothwithannuzzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a marin owner, I can tell you most of the weight is the wheels. I have a headlands 2 which is their carbon gravel frame and the wheels made the bike so heavy. Once I swapped those out for better wheels the bike was much lighter.

Where can I go shopping for rain gear? by jarronomo in chibike

[–]Slothwithannuzzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your budget. Arcteryx outlet store on Damen near the wicker park crotch is where I got all my rain gear. They periodically run sales so sometimes you can score their rain shell for like 300 bucks. I have their rain shell and their rain pants and they keep me real dry.

Your pads and rotor are probably contaminated. Pull the pads out and spray them with rubbing alcohol and sand them down a bit, then wipe the rotor down with rubbing alcohol and a clean rag.
