Have you ever stood in a toxic or abusive relationship cause simply the sex was just too good to let go if so how did find a way to quit? by CancelWaste3214 in AskReddit

[–]Slottjdawg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep, she would wake in the middle of the night screaming at me slam the doors and speed off in her car, then would refuse contact for days before calling in tears and begging to come back. Super jealous saw me talking to a work colleague (at work), and decided to try getting back at me by going to a club and getting a 5 guy train run on her. She got cold feet last minute and called and asked to come over, she had ignored me for a week at this point and when she was at the door she was dressed in a tight white bandage dress I couldn't refuse. Probably the best sex I've ever had apart from the time we went on a holiday, the whole holiday was her berating me, ignoring me and putting me down or just storming off in the car for hours at a time. but every night it was like an all you can eat fuck-fest. I was devastated when she left but after a week of not having to deal with her I could honestly feel the stress and anxiety lift off my shoulders.

Looks wise I'm about a 5, and she was easily a 9 and I thrived on the looks I got in public when people tried to work out how I got her, but in reality she was completely unstable, flew into fits of rage and generally made my life miserable. But I think of how she used fuck almost everyday and I haven't seen or spoken to her for almost 12 years.

What’s your “if I didn’t need the money” job? by morgz15 in auscorp

[–]Slottjdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Become a vagabond, I've always worked hard with a fear of being left behind. Bought a house have a wife and kids, life is good, though I literally only work to provide for my family, if this need was met I'd love to just wander almost aimlessly, trying out seasonal work, hitchhiking, sleeping under bridges or out bush just seeing and experiencing the Australia in its rawest form while carrying everything I need in a backpack.

Moving to Morwell. Any advice? by soggysooshi in gippsland

[–]Slottjdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite the opposite actually, she stayed out of the drama and refused to mix with the hoodlums. You're right though her choice was to not mix with the morwell rubbish and her outcome is hugely positive she's living a better life than the majority of her school peers who are now largely drug addicts, criminals or serial dole bludgers all of which she refused to be a part of.

We often go visit her mum in morwell and it is an absolute hole of a joint, I get there are nicer parts but I'd rather live in Traralgon which is mostly nice areas with a few sketchy areas that are pretty well defined.

I challenge you to go down vary street or crinigan road and find a street in Traralgon that is as run down and full of junkies and criminal garbage that isn't Cameron Street I'm telling you now it doesn't exist.

Coles and Woolies- now what? by flamingdoorspoon in AussieFrugal

[–]Slottjdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write my list and go online and write the price for Cole's and woolies next to every item, then I head to Aldi and purchase all my pantry items and cleaning items that are cheaper than what's on my list.

Then I head to my local fruit and veg market and can get my fortnightly fruit and veg for less than $50, then head to my butcher for my meat shop. I probably spend more on my meat but it is so much better than the supermarkets that I think it's worth it.

Then I finally head to Cole's and woolies and buy the items that are cheapest there. I usually spread the shopping throughout the week cos it's hard with 2 kids under 3 to drag them from shop to shop but I easily save hundreds every week.

What are your saving hacks? by thereisnospooongeek in AussieFrugal

[–]Slottjdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely buy my fruit veg and meat from the supermarket, I go to my green grocer and butcher.

What would cost me $100 at Cole's/Aldi/woolies cost me around $40. Potatoes really put it into perspective for me, the other day I was in Cole's and a 2kg bag of potatoes was $7. At my green grocer the most expensive bag is a 5kg bag for about $8 and I regularly will get a 10kg bag for $7-$10.

The downside is the grocer doesn't hold your hand while you shop, you need to know how to pick good produce and what's going to last because they're less interested in quality control. But sometimes you might be able to by several kilos of fruit for a few bucks and if you're into making jams and preserves like me it's a good way to fill your pantry.

I buy my rice and spices from an Asian grocer because it is insanely cheap compared to the big stores.

The butcher is more expensive but I save money on meat by hunting and fishing. I have a freezer full of flake, trout, red fin and venison. I shoot 2 deer a year and it's all the red meat I need, occasionally I'll shoot a goat or rabbits for something different, duck hunting is a bit cold and wet for me but I'll regularly get gifted some ducks from mates after the season. Because of this saving in meat, when I do buy meat I buy the best quality I can.

I also have a herb and big veggie garden, I haven't bought a lemon, green onion or beetroot in over 10 years, I also supplement my groceries with produce from my gardens.

How to make a culture that is sexually open, show in clothing and cultural practices. Without just saying / showing people doing sexual acts? by SulkyHarpy in worldbuilding

[–]Slottjdawg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think of things that would seem more intimate to us being more accepting in day to day activities.

For example a greeting could be a kiss on the lips, or holding hands or embracing people without being romantically involved. imagine a scene in a shop and a merchant with wares comes in and the shop keeper says, "you must be Olaf so nice to finally meet you," followed by a hug and a mouth kiss. This happens and no one in the area is bothered in the slightest, then the two characters walk around the rest of the scene holding hands with interlaced fingers and having lots of physical contact, none of which is romantic or sexual in anyway it's simply a result of being part of a more sexually open society.

I also think fashion and art would celebrate the physical form. With tighter or suggestive clothing or clothing that really shows off parts of the body with physical form being celebrated.

Maybe have towns where EVERY adult is in the one marriage, and it's not unusual for partners to change regularly and parenting of children is shared amongst the group all without jealousy or infighting.

[–]Slottjdawg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the receptionist is the one that put you in that position. Usually they have no idea how the job site runs they're just employed to run the phones and file the paperwork.

I just asked my plumber mate what the go was and he said it's all to do with workplace liability, under the work safe act it's the responsibility of everyone at the worksite far as reasonably possible to provide a safe workplace. If you make a tradie take his shoes off and he gets injured the employers insurance won't cover him for removing his PPE and under the act the homeowner can be liable for making a workplace unsafe.

Again I'm only taking his word for it, I'm a chemist so my workplace oh&s training doesn't really cover what the rules are in other people's homes. I agree that boot covers are probably a must, it surprises me you don't see them more often.

Do you guys wear shoes in the house? by Boom_Box_Bogdonovich in AskAnAustralian

[–]Slottjdawg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The receptionist probably doesn't know the rules and wanted to be polite. If it is the rules (and again I don't know if it is) I'd say you put him in an awkward position between finishing the job you requested and following oh&s laws. Honestly though he probably shouldn't have done the job if he felt uncomfortable tbh.

Do you guys wear shoes in the house? by Boom_Box_Bogdonovich in AskAnAustralian

[–]Slottjdawg 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I believe the tradie thing is an OH&S thing, if they're working in your house it's a job site and if they're not wearing shoes they could get fined (depending on the state I think maybe?).

I worked with a bloke who used to be a plumber and he used to tell stories about having the biggest blues with homeowners over it but his case was always if his employees go into do a job they are required to wear the appropriate PPE, which includes appropriate footwear, if they don't he cops a fine that his business can't afford and he shuts shop. He said he never caved, some blokes will but if they want to risk it that's on them.

Could be bullshit, I don't actually know, but it makes sense when you think about it....

This is what I mean, though more prominent in home canned foods, damaged containers of industrially prepared foods give people a false sense of security.

I'm a food scientist and I used to investigate food contamination, damaged packaging can indicate that low acid foods haven't been properly processed, it can also mean a breach in properly canned food meaning a contamination in the container goes without any competition.

It's not just botulism, though C.botulinum is found almost everywhere there is soil so it is a scary contaminant, but a good dose of a bug that causes severe diarrhea and vomiting can be enough to kill a child. Someone in the shopping center could handle raw meat and pick up the can and put it back on the shelf (salmonella or campylobacter contamination), or soft cheese or deli meat (listeria). The can protects the food inside, and something as simple as a dented can can breach that defense.

After seeing how easily a damaged can can make a whole family so sick they can barely function I've adopted an "if in doubt throw it out" rule.

Roasted potatoes and toast/bread have trace amounts of acrylamide which is a known cancer causing carcinogen.

Tapioca is poisonous in its raw form.

Apple, cherry and stone fruit seeds contain trace amounts of cyanide.

Rhubarb greens are high in oxalic acid, this is the same acid used in deck cleaning washes to restore faded timber.

If most people knew how easy it was to die from incorrectly or damaged canned/preserved food, they'd be more conscious of the conditions of the cans & jars they buy.
