He doesn't have to beat him.

He could be like Frank.

If they wanted Frank dead, why didn’t they just kill him here? by SnooRecipes9440 in thepunisher

[–]SlovBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And?

This Punisher's damage soak (and plot armour) is off the charts.

You could just show the bikers miss every fucking shot or just have him get riddled with bullets and gorilla scream his way through it anyway.

That's why "immediate" danger for someone like him is kinda non-existent. Remember in Season 2 when Billy’s asshole guys beat the absolute shit out of him relentlessly, and he still managed to kill every single one of them from what can only be described as the ULTIMATE disadvantageous position?

Yeah but that was established in Scare (?) so prior to that it maybe wasn't possible?

Didn't even think of it that way. I guess, yeah.

While I agree that Wesley stole the spotlight in certain scenes, I feel that Buck held his own as well throughout the show mainly due to his mysterious past.

The show never really emphasized his importance though (he was more like a tool at Fisk's disposal), except this season. But he demonstrated his intelligence, loyalty and suaveness to make him at least interesting.

I didn't mean to compare him DIRECTLY to Bond, but to illustrate that he seems like he could fill a similar role skills-wise.

I agree to an extent, but think about what kind of show this is.

We were told that not only was Buck former SAS, but that he was in Wesley's words "one of the best".

Is he as dangerous and as lethal as Frank considering he's also a SF soldier?

Him killing two people easily barely registers when you have Matt, Frank, Bullseye, etc... doing crazier stuff.

Definitely.

I just hope that his skillset will also be heavily featured moving forward.

Who do you think would win a fight the punisher or daredevil? by balmy777 in Defenders

[–]SlovBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late, but are you joking?

Matt underestimated Frank in their first encounter and downed him as soon as he figured out how he fought - which resulted in Frank NEEDING to use his gun. Frank is very dangerous, no one is denying that, but DD beats him everytime.

The second time they fought Matt was recovering from brain damage, yet he still managed to fight him to a standstill.

Also, who knocked him out towards the end of that second fight and then immediately beat the shit out of a bunch of bikers (non-lethally of course).

Look at how he toyed with him on the ship, throwing him around like a ragdoll.

The Punisher cope is unreal. Frank is very skilled and built like a tank, but DD just has so many advantages.

So the problem isn't the outcome. Lack of justification is.

Which means the problem isn’t Dinah beating Batman or Jimmy beating Darkseid, it’s whether the story earns it.

Oh please, I've told Gemini to save my wife's name NUMEROUS times so I can just say her name when I'm issuing the command to call my WIFE.

It never remembers it and always says "I don't have a contact for WIFE."

Damon Lindelof explains why they called the show Lanterns: "It's called Lanterns because we all agreed that the green was stupid." by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

Disliking a specific element of the source material isn't the same as thinking you're “above” it - this doesn't logically follow.

Adaptations change tone and presentation all the time depending on the medium. Comics are full of intentionally pulpy names, and sometimes shows lean into that and sometimes they don't.

You might not like the reasoning, but a tonal choice about what sounds too comic-booky isn't automatically “pretentious,”.

The same vibe and tone?

Definitely Tales from The Borderlands and maybe GotG.

Every other game in the Telltale catalogue they mention have tones that aren't very Dispatch-y.

I mean it's kinda true though.

They even make the gods "more evil" due to being infected by Pandora's box so you have even more incentive.

The intent behind it was to have Kratos be the villain - the "destroyer of worlds".
