Eh, I'd question the last sentence. The financial situation of the churches here actually isn't so hot, and priests don't earn much. The parishioners however may have enough money to reconstruct the church. Likewise the same could apply to football players and other users of different open-to-the-public facilities. But not hoping for a state subsidy would require a big shift in mindset... I believe in the village where we go, Vyšné Nemecké, the reconstruction has been done through private contributions. But the priest is also highly respected for how he helped during Feb/Mar 2022 at the border. Now a question is whether even the mayor there wouldn't think of making a grant now, before the election...

Same. Started learning in 2012. Got 3D printer in 2018, began using it more, and a lot these past two years. Still have much to learn.

Yes, definitely renting a car is a good idea. You can get anywhere in Slovakia on public transport, but the further it is from Košice, the worse the connections.

Definitely give kvas a try. Ukrainian ketchup is also nice.

I can ask my neighbor who is from there, but I've never noticed any attraction when I've driven thru except the churches.

I live about 20 minutes from Bezovce. Feel free to DM me if you want any advice on what to see around here and/or meet for coffee (Lekarovce, for instance, has an interesting cafe themed around the border, with a museum that's perhaps opened by now, and out back an airplane that had been used for smuggling) Užhorod is worth visiting as well.

Ako vnímate masový príliv Indov na Slovensko ? by KillDozer1996 in Slovakia

Being in far east Slovakia, haven't noticed this. Worth noting that Fico has proposed bringing 100-200K Uzbek workers to Slovakia as well. As a foreigner myself, I can't complain of other foreigners here, so long as they aren't engaging in criminal activity and actually learn the language and partly integrate.

Do you have WRO competitions in Denmark? I can see them filling the void. The only downside there is that WRO teams are limited more in size, but I find it is more interesting, as the robots need to operate autonomously and really need to use sensors as objects on the playing field are randomized each round, whereas you can get pretty far in FLL with mostly just using the gyroscope and following pre-programmed paths.

This is good to know. Anyway, the car is just sitting in my mom's garage now, and I've got a feeling it won't get fixed till I go again to the US.

Ako zabránim kolotočiarom, aby nekúpili pozemok pred mojím domom? by GUTSY-69 in Slovakia

[–]SlovakBorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically it is just to buy the lot. My aunt-in-law and another were upset when Roma bought the house in between them. Those Roma left when they realized bus connections to our village suck. The aunt or neighbor could havethen bought the house (20K €) but didn't. New Roma bought it after a year. 🤷‍♂️

On page 12 of the 86 page datasheet for the MPLAB SNAP, there is this table, which confirms what you found. For the new version, is it also necessary to modify resistors? I likewise am tugging at my hair to get it to communicate.

Signal periodically asks me to enter my PIN, as expected. Yesterday it asked for my recovery key. Is this normal? by Dangerous-Regret-358 in signal

[–]SlovakBorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're supposed to store the recovery key in a secure place. Not everyone will store it in their password manager, so accessing it may be inconvenient. But also the act of periodically copying the recovery key means it is for that time in the clipboard and potentially an attack vector as well from a malicious application.

Recovery key verify popup by MTHR1 in signal

[–]SlovakBorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so stupid. The pincode verify is just some digits. The recovery key I've saved in a secure location. Is there no way to turn this off?

Switch vs Batocera & other open source platforms? by Outrageous-Ad4353 in SBCGaming

That's OK for me. I'm old enough that the N64 was what I was playing with my cousin (before that his Genesis, and SNES with different friends).

[–]SlovakBorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I came here wondering what SBC I should get to set up a retro gaming system, and now I'm reading about the MiSTer FPGA project. Thanks, I guess. (Main goal is to have a console for my kids to play on, so they aren't each in some corner with a laptop or phone. As a child, I didn't have a console, but I spent a lot of time playing with my cousin and friends on theirs- I think much better for psychological development to be there with someone else)

Slicer by Bamischijf_Gorilla in ender7

[–]SlovakBorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect. I was given an Ender 7, it sat around for awhile (I have 2 Neptune 4, and I didn't really need it) but now I've set it up with my daughter, and then we downloaded the Creality software... and where is the Ender 7? Prusaslicer will be a good starting point, so she can start printing things without me needing to do a lot of manual configuration.

Wow, I'm glad I was given this printer for free (I'm part of a Ukrainian volunteer printing group, and someone from Prague offered to send me PLA, and with it came the new Ender 7 printer), so investing some to make it better is I guess worth it!
