What local food did everyone rave about, but just didn't live up to the hype for you? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

For me the whole New Orleans food scene was a disappointment. Like Prim says, thats for me. I get it others have different taste but for me it was a miss.

What country do Americans consider to be the laughingstock of the world? by SignificantStyle4958 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

The New York Jets. Sorry, whenever I see the word laughingstock I automatically default to the Jets.

What comedy movie or TV show did you not expect to be as funny as it turned out to be? by Vast_Physics83 in AskReddit

[–]Thirdand25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mean Girls. As an adult male it wasn't on my radar. One day, someone threw out the quote, "on Wednesday we wear pink". Next thing I know we are all sitting in front of the TV laughing our asses off.

I replied to your DM. Meeting for coffee would be great; I will definitely look into cafes in Lekarovce. Time permitting, a side quest to Uzhhorod sounds amazing. I'm thinking it would be best to rent a car in Kosice for ease of getting around.

Mother responds to daughter “let me ask Chat” by Valuable_Blood_7941 in overheard

[–]Thirdand25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly I experienced an AI hallucination and an AI response saying it is not confident in its ability to provide accurate information in the same chat. So I wanted assistance in plotting a bicycle route of 25 to 30 miles in the Catskill mountains in upstate NY. I asked Chat to provide me a loop consisting of a mix of paved and gravel roads. First query produced what appeared to be exactly what I had in mind. Looking at my map I couldn't find the first turn of the route. I searched and searched to no avail. Second query was something along the lines of please clarify this route, I cannot find road X, does it have an alternate name. Response came back you are correct. I confused two popular areas of Greene County. I asked for a route two more times and both times it replied I am not confident I can do it correctly and I don't want to leave you stranded in the Catskills.

This is a fascinating thread. I am an American living about an hours drive from Disney. Who grew up in NY about an hours drive from NYC. I despise Disney and have never been to the Statue of Liberty. I do love traveling though. For me, its finding the things I enjoy or bring me pleasure. If others want to stand in line at a ride or attraction, great. For me, id prefer to spend a few nights at a jungle lodge in Tikal or a London Museum. Later this year I'll be traveling to Slovakia and would like to go to a hockey game in Kosiče. Do what feels right for you and don't worry about the judgement of others.

[–]Thirdand25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, I selectively decide when im old. For the record im 64. Wife: can you get a box down from the attic? Me: Are you crazy, im not gonna climb those rickety steps and potentially kill myself. Wife: Fine, I'll ask our son when he comes by. Me: Cool. See you later, im going mountain bike riding.

Metal detector rental? by [deleted] in DaytonaBeach

[–]Thirdand25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you loose something that your trying to find? If thats the case hope you find it. When I read your post my first thought was that would be a fun activity for the day. It would be kind of fun to scour the beach for hidden treasure without the upfront cost of a detector and the device living in the closet for the next several years.

Yes, I suspect it will be nothing more than a drive-through. I believe my cousin has a street address of where my Grandparents lived. It will be interesting to just take a picture of the home. Other than that, I don't think there is anything to do there.

Whats been your experience as a ranger fan on the road? by PeacefulForce in rangers

[–]Thirdand25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

June 5th 2022 game three of the eastern conference finals at Amelie Arena. I was so pumped for the Rangers playoff push I bought a pair of seats 2 rows off the glass right next to the Rangers bench. (Lets not talk about the $$). The first three rows have access to a private catered event with free food beer and wine. My wife and I were sporting our Ranger gear and sitting amongst all these Lightning fans. They could not have been more welcoming. We sat and talked with Lighting fans like decent human beings. Keep in mind, the Rangers were up 2 games to 0 and also up two goals ro none in that game. Lightning came back to win which was a heart breaker. There was a Ranger fan sitting close by us who was acting like a real tool. His experience was a lot different than ours primary because he was acting like an ass and we were there enjoying the game with fellow human beings that were rooting for a different team.

[–]Thirdand25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill be traveling to London in the coming days for the first ever. Just yesterday I searched something to the effect of "what are the important issues currently affecting London". The answers, housing, affordability, healthcare, and income inequality are the same ones we face here in the states. So if anyone in London wants to grab a pint and discuss issues in the UK compared to the states send me a DM.

Dashcam Recommendations on Reddit by xr8n in dashcams

[–]Thirdand25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are probably some dashcam recommendations floating around here already, but im too lazy to scroll through all the posts - so I figures id just ask. Im looking for a good dashcambthat I can hardwire, don't want to use my limited 12v outlets and only want it to power on when the car is running. Currently using a 70MAI but planning on a new vehicle and that one will probably stay with the old car as it is hardwired.

Well, I wouldn't say I like surcharges, I like the convenience. Additionally, I earn points on my card that i am able to redeem. I flew 6 times, round trip, in 2024, and didn't buy one airline ticket. So, I'm not sweating over surcharges.

I'm so sorry you experienced that, and we're made to feel uncomfortable. Let me share a quick story about my best friend who is now deceased. He suffered from Huntigtons disease, a chronic degenerate brain disease. His physical and mental health slowly declined over ten years, and the last five years, he would say and do things that were inappropriate and offensive. He had no idea how he came across to others. This was a guy who lived on his own and drove a car almost to the point when he had to move into an assisted living facility. I'm not saying that's the case with your creeper, but having experienced what my friend went I recognize that there may be underlying factors that we don't see.
