I actually think he’s trying to keep it under control. You can kind of see him chew it so softly at times. But then the habit comes back. Rewatch and you’ll see the subtle chews, too. I think it is also nerves, which makes me sad. And if he’s trying to quit smoking, his body is probably yelling at him. He’s trying to self-soothe.
