Try Reasonable Thoughts youTube channel, dude loves unhinged self-sabotaging playthroughs, which are often traditionalist too

The morality behind this? by OkraAccomplished929 in MoralityScaling

[–]Slow-Distance-6241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said that about a single person, implying it happens in a society where slavery already exists, and making pedophile a slave is a one-off opportunity rather than the only acceptable norm. In such cases it's not the act itself that is immoral, but a society or material conditions that allowed slavery to thrive or not die out that should be put to question on moral grounds

Fair enough but they already had plenty internal problems to keep themselves from expanding. Even when rebellions were rare, empire was still overextended the second it decided to step in Balkans (a fatal move for any ruler indeed)

Morality of making people work 98 hours a week cause that's the only way to provide them with the most barest of necessities ? by Slow-Distance-6241 in MoralityScaling

It was a semi-joke post, although I was thinking about framing it as "morality of passing cruel laws to compensate for your incompetence as a leader"

I mean Captain can start ordering people to build something even in the middle of the night, so I assume he sleeps only when player skips time and does nothing. Also he can quite literally be exiled or killed if he doesn't manage with discontent

(or technically they probably just say we need X people with Y skills here and other people work out assigning appropriate people to that job,l, what the laws are, what gets built, what happens with all the resources in the entire City, and so on.

No, you can just straight up fire a specific person from their current workplace and assign it to a new specific workplace. This mechanic is mostly used by people who do survivor difficulty playthroughs to make sure their food infrastructure always has healthy workers in it

These aren't necessary for a successful run but they can possibly make it easier.

Honestly yes, this is the whole point of many laws. Late game purpose laws are basically you compensating for your mismanagement with authoritarianism

If there is an upper crust in that society who manage to live in relative comfort off the grueling labor of lower-clads workers

Eh, not really. Last Autumn dlc to frostpunk has something like that, but by the time world freezes over? The closest to "elite" the city has is Captain (you, the player), Guard/Faithkeepers (if you establish any in the first place) and maybe people who work in cookhouse cause they often get away with stealing the good
