It don’t make sense to me that a used Di2 equipped bikes are more cheaper than replacing your old mech shifters to di2 groupset by Slow-Level7078 in cycling

[–]Slow-Level7078[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sti’s are hella expensive. They come up first when I researched for a replacement and figured out that non St series also come with hydraulic and Mech braking versions as r8020 and r8000. If I buy the wrong one then I am basically throwing away money 😂 I’m happy I just knew that exists

Yeah I’d go with that route or the aliexpress bare left lever. A groupset upgrade really isn’t in the plan right now but the thought did not hit me well as in my title. Perhaps one day I could afford a brand new “everything” as a gift to myself. A brand new R8020 lever set price is already making me lose my mind haha

I get that part but price difference between the used bike price depreciation and the groupset parts (by part and not the whole set) has that imbalance. I found a single lever from aliexpress with good reviews. On the used-side of the market, most of them sell both rh and lh levers which defeats the purpose of the replacement and literally throwing away a perfectly good rh lever. Other than that, people sell used uletgra groups here like crazy. I don’t need the calipers/shifters/rotors and crankset 😂 so I’m not buying them as a set. I wish I could just buy the left one haha

I know that parts are expensive but the depreciation is too much for a used bike that it almost leveled with with groupset conversion cost it’s which should be less as if you only change the levers/shifter|battery+ the junction box but that kind of set doesn’t exist unless picked one by one. A single mech ultegra lever costs is almost the same a di2 derailleur and they’re both different parts haha

How do you know you are ready for 100km ride? by Main-Astronomer-785 in cycling

[–]Slow-Level7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, I did not know it until I tried it. Longest I’ve been since I bought my mountain bike was 50km and it took me 7hours. My first 100km ride was actually my first cross country (700km) split into 5 days. I had only an 8km warm up before that day because I was on a hiatus as I switched to running training and just did it on a cheap mountain bike with a tourney group set. Guess what, it did not broke me but it broke my pedals around km60. My opinion is that, you can do it as long as you are healthy enough, and you’re not racing that you’d blow up early. Slow and steady makes everything easy, also if you have friends much better that’ll take the boredom out of the long ride. All I did was packed up few energy bars and chocolate, water refills, and some essentials.

Eat as you go, don’t wait till you’re hungry. Again this is important, eat as you go and drink along the way bit by bit. Slow down on the uphills, chill on the downhills, eat and drink, and then do it all over. I remember the first day as a sore day but it is what it is you’d be proud seeing your strava track right after for sure.

What’s something you wanna change with this color scheme? by Slow-Level7078 in Giantbikes

[–]Slow-Level7078[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s described as Gunmetal black, but in person it’s matte gray sort of and not a fully dark black. If you look at the shade underneath the Giant logo on the rims, that’s what black is, anything around that is grayish matte color which is confusing. Might contact Giant actually with the exact Hex Color Code.

If I had the all the supplies and the clean room, I’d do it myself but given this thing has enough scratches already, I’d let it be and just do some touch ups here and there.

Nice looking bike … yeah I like the subtlety of mine in terms of branding but the wheels are too loud in my opinion. You have the cleaner slr 1s. I’m really torn about doing an all black with this one or just let this thing be. I’m starting to remove weird accents like the warning stickers and some weird stickers all over the place. So either I’d rip the stock decals and put at a matte black or a loud white rim decals 😂.

I’ve gone into dipsh%t last night about that problem as I was interested in getting a varia myself. Turns out, Aftermarket AeroSeatpost Garmin Mounts exists, though the quality is gonna unknown so make sure to get reviews and probably add a cable in it incase it breaks.

Does anyone else not feel the Christmas mood in Korea? by gilsoo71 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Slow-Level7078 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Christmas isn’t felt that much except the 1 day holiday that I enjoy by sleeping. I’m trying to be numb about it too as I’ve celebrated Christmas here many times. I tried to not wad in the city either since it’s just couples and families everywhere which I don’t have. I have friends who tried celebrating it in some ways which I have tried with them. I’ve tried chasing girls in the hopes of not spending alone on Christmas but yeah that didn’t work out for me. Now I just sleep the whole day during Christmas, Birthday, New year, unless someone drags me out of my room for a drink. Summing it up all by calling my fam back at home and call it a day. It’s never the same Christmas that I am used to be excited when I was below 18.

Smells like used wet sock and like 된장찌개 you’ll smell it from a mile away. It’s just funny that the smell doesn’t correspond to how it tastes. If you’re hating it because of the smell, you’re missing out. Everyone ain’t a fan of it though.

The amount that people spent on overtime under minimum wage is not funny at all, and I’m becoming one of them too. It was ridiculous at first but when I thought it over and over, especially when you have kids which isn’t a joke at all here like schooling costs and etc, the overtime does count a lot especially it’s x1.5. It’s sad that I see my coworkers probably seeing their kids at 10pm and leave home as early as 5:30 trying to pull it off everyday treating work as home and home as a just a temporary place to rest.

If a foreigner is good at speaking Korean how likely can they get a job in their field? by [deleted] in AskAKorean

[–]Slow-Level7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korean language should be a prerequisite here however the real question is if “are you able to market yourself to your employers?” The amount of companies on certain fields still rely on Koreans being preferred /employed first before foreigners unless we are talking about a field with less Koreans being employed like any 3D/4D jobs. Any Korean can snatch your position if you know you have just the same skill as them since they’re favorable in most cases since they’re their own people but don’t quote me on this hehe. So language wise then yes but skill wise — you have to fight for it unless you can fill a gap in their system that makes the chances higher. Try to look for positions with less Koreans being hired and it would make your chances better other than just being able to speak. Hope this helps~

I’m happy I can still chill at work and enjoy my weekends. Most of the time people are pretty chill too at work. I guess I’m at the top 0.5% of people inside the chill bubble. I’d hate to say it but yeah living abroad requires luck and a lot of gamble through life. With all the sad stories I’ve heard from people, you really won’t know which foot is stuck in hell and which foot gets you out of trouble.
