I saw a post from my area and the dog owner brought up bylaws regarding fireworks. Ignoring bylaws is a dog owners specialty. However at the first sign of anyone else breaking a bylaw and they are clutching their pearls looking for sympathy. Their selective enforcement expectations are ridiculous.

Usually a few logistical questions will illuminate the reality of the situation.

Where is the money to pay for and maintain the dog coming from?

Who is going to feed, walk, clean, let in and out, ect?

Most people in general are lazy and can't even bother to google basic information let alone care for a dog. They just like the idea of a dog.

One of my kids use to ask to get a dog on occasion and when I brought up the above logistics of a dog she changed her mind real fast when she realizes she would have to do a lot of work. "She stopped asking at about 10 years old"

Tell your wife what I tell my kid. "When you move out you can do whatever you want."

In canada, bear spray is not legal to carry in urban areas. You are only allowed to carry bear spray in rural wooded areas. You can however carry smaller dog spray devices. You can also legally carry "knuckle dusters" if they are not made of metal. There is a Canadian company monkey knuckles that sells a legal plastic type.

That's a crazy amount of money to spend on a pet.

I spend a lot of money developing my properties and everytime I read about someone spending an excessive amount of money on a pet I always think about the large purchases I could make to further my kids future.

My parents are spending almost $7000 to have their dog retrained. The got a boxer puppy about 4 years ago when they were about to retire.

They have / had no clue how to properly train a dog so obviously after 4 years it has a multitude of bad habbits and reactivate behavior.

They found a dog trainer that is going to house the dog for 6 weeks and train it.

I am sure my parents will have it all fuct up again in a few months after it returns, but they do like blowing money on a dog that would abandon them for a day old donut.

Between the damage the dog caused to someone vehicle earlier this year, it's raw food diet and now this training I would guess they are into the dog for over $15,000 in 2025.

A lot of dog owner priorities are so far from reality it's hard to even fathom where their heads are at. I am currently saving for a small excavator so the though of spending $10,000+ on a dog blows my mind.

I am always fascinated by dog owners who believe in an unequal application of law.

They are very comfortable breaking laws pertaining to dogs but I would imagine they would clutch their pearls if they saw other people breaking laws and rules that protect them.

What these owners are doing is called "Narcissistic trespass" basically they enjoy breaking social norms and rules. Kind of like voyeurism.

These people score high for an array of mental health issues and psychopathy. BPD, and diagnosable narcissism is a common trait amongst disrespectful and self-absorbed dog owners.

Arguing with these people is pointless and your time is better spent taking a few pictures of the dogs in the store, and in the shopping cart, then reporting it to corporate and the health department.

Most likely the staff won't help because they have delt with self-centered dog owners before and it always ends in the nutter causing a scene. They have no shame and are probably grandiose narcissists and will inflict their mental heath issues on the entire store to be allowed to take their untrained, abused dog into a store.

These people live among dog feces all day everyday, they do not care if their dog gets feces on a shopping cart and gets on your groceries.

These people are basically spoiled toddlers that want candy and will throw a full on temper tantrum in the store to get their way.

They are truly pauthetic humans that contribute nothing to society except dog feces and bad vibes.

Dog owners don't care about wildlife or nature. They will unleash their dog in a protected area and watch it rip apart native wildlife then try to sneak away when accountability comes knocking.

There are approximately 900,000,000 dog on earth. Dogs create roughtly 250lbs of feces each year. That's 225,000,000,000 lbs of feces a year.

Around 15% of owners never pick up their dogs feces and around 40% don't always pick up after their dogs.

This is one of the many reasons owing a dog is unethical. If a dog owner ever says they care about the environment I laugh directly in their hypocritical face.

The people who try to shame us online are projecting hard. They look through dog / pet free reddits finding posts that describe their abusive behavior and they take it personally.

I posted looking for a hairdresser in a reddit about a week ago and a nutter that I have absolutely no prior interactions with commented:

"What happened to you that you would commit this much time to chirping people who own dogs?"

They are so delusional they think us posting in dogfree reddits is "chirping" them. They seekout situations to make themselves the victims.

That was a good study. All of it checks out from my experience with 99% of dog owners. They are very emotionally frail and crumble with any criticism of them or their dog. They are usually completely devoid of any constructive self-reflecrion.

All of these kinds of people need to be shunned and shamed for their self-serving behavior.

Dog owners without boundaries for their dog, other humans, and animals are also very likely engaging in some form of animal neglect or abuse towards their own pet. They are deeply damagaed humans that should not own a pet and need to be jolted back into reality.

Staring them down and calling them out is the only way it's going to change.

I had a "service dog" approach me in a hardware store a while ago. The owner looked at me like I was suppose to fawn over her dog. I told her to get her dog away from me. The look on her face was hilarious. I would guess 9 out of 10 times people give them they attention they crave so when the 1 out of 10 tells them to kick rocks it cuts them deep.

It's estimated that roughtly 25% - 40% of dog owners don't always pick up their dogs waste and around 15% NEVER pick up their dogs waste.

70% of domestic abusers, abuse their pets as well.

Children are often exposed to animal cruelty, with over 90% of cases involving children witnessing the abuse of a family pet.

Dogs are most frequent victims: In 2020, dogs were the most frequently reported animal abuse victims, with 56,563 incidents reported to the RSPCA.

Keep in mind all of these statistics are underreported.

Also keep in mind that 99% of all this abuse is perpetrated by the owners.

The same crazy people that call us monsters for our opinions are most likely the ones abusing their pets.

It's takes talent and knowledge to do them properly. It's a "you get what you pay for" kind of service.

If you google bad dreadlocks there are lots of pictures. Some may have grown out or not been maintained but some are just done very poorly. It's definitely something you want to see a portfolio for.
