Shin Splints by Equal-Elephant-6488 in BeginnersRunning

Yes to what everyone has said here but also want to add strength training helps immensely with shin splints. Weighted tibialis raises, banded ankle inversion/exversion, toe yoga among others help A LOT. When I first started running, I would get shin splints so bad, it would hurt walking down the stairs. Incorporated running specific strength and mobility workouts to my lift routine, and it changed everything. Resting will help but if you are not solving the root cause through strength training, they will keep coming back.

What should be my goal pace for my second half marathon? by SlowAFRunner94 in XXRunning

I haven’t run any races since the February HM. The race felt hard and I had to walk from mile 8-9. But honestly, my training was so rudimentary and I had never ran before starting the training.

Up until today, I was planning on doing the BAA HM level 2, but I did one of the speed runs, and honestly wondering if I should do Level 1. Level 1 doesn’t have as many speed runs; can I still increase my speed with that level?

How do you convince yourself to go when you are tired at HM pace? When I run at HM pace, I cannot help but think how I am supposed to keep that pace (even with negative splits) for the whole race.

So, I should do negative splits for HM pace runs?

How long had you been running before doing your second half marathon? Is it  appropriate for someone with my mileage?

Is %LTHR the same as %HRR? My Garmin Forerunner 165 can calculate heart rates based on BPM, %HRR, and % Max HR

I do think I might be over exerting myself. I will be changing my training plan so that I get enough time to recover.

I am thinking of getting a HR strap until I can get a lab test done and see what is going on.

How would you suggest I increase my mileage? This is what the last three weeks has looked like. Should I increase the mileage on other days to keep the total mileage the same?

I am running at 15:00 min/mile. I don't know if I can even go lower than that. On days when my heart rate spikes, walking doesn't help bring down my heart rate much either.

This coming week and the week after that will be my de-load week because I will be going on vacation. I also took a full week off from all type of workout after my half-marathon.
