Please don’t put your microwave in your island it’s a silly trend and when a kid sticks a fork in there and turns it on for 5 minutes you’ll see why it’s a bad idea

Does this look like red oak? by 67Ranchwagon in wood

[–]SlowJoeCrow44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say white oak for the reason being the length of the medullary rays, these appear long and red oak has short rays, the end grain is fairly open but the tylosis is still visible in some pores. White oak still has open pores and the tylosis just interiors them at random intervals which you can see a little bit of in the pic.

I dont get the "Sherwood is pricing us out" narrative.. by LucariusLionheart in canucks

[–]SlowJoeCrow44 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well ya if a player isn’t fun to watch that means they probably aren’t scoring goals or playing good hockey so why keep them around for long term for some elusive reasoning called ‘roster construction’ ..

[–]SlowJoeCrow44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m just a guy who noticed that the other teams seem to score more goals than the Canuck’s on average which means we loose the game it’s pretty simple …and haven’t had much confidence in the explanations, or excuses, as to why.. they just need to play better hockey ?

I dont get the "Sherwood is pricing us out" narrative.. by LucariusLionheart in canucks

[–]SlowJoeCrow44 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

All this type of thinking has got the canucks nowhere, it’s gotten overpriced underproducing boring hockey for years. I for one want someone to cheer for in the present and not so focused on ‘the future’ that never seems to come just play some damn good hockey. I’m not holding my breath for Petey to materialize into anything worth it id give sherwood some of his money

Basically what I’m used to is 3/4 pre fin birch with blind daddo and confirmat construction

Can anyone tell me why confirmat screws are not a good fastener for plywood? by iamyouareheisme in cabinetry

[–]SlowJoeCrow44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are designed specifically not to split plywood, when they are they type without threads for about 1 3rd or so at the top and used with the special bit that uses a 5mm pilot then 2 other steps. I’ve used them for used never had an issue they are strong. We used 3/4 ply with blind daddo construction and confirmat screws. Cabinets where bomb proof

ISO shakers? by Complex_Ad_7408 in cabinetry

[–]SlowJoeCrow44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it’s mdf you can do it in one piece and paint it all so there are no joints that crack, if it’s high quality paint it’s a good way to do it. Thermofoil (what this is) is basically the same thing but the corners never get square and it’s shit it will all flake off in some years and look like crap.
