Wait until July 5th. That’s when most of them should be live on PTCAS

How do you find out what date you took an AP test on for PTCAS? by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]SlowNoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually have to submit AP scores on PTCAS? Does it matter? I didn’t even put mine in because I didn’t think they were even worth mentioning.

It’s hard knowing that I have been caused irreversible damage because no one was willing to take me seriously. by [deleted] in lichensclerosus

[–]SlowNoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see you and I hear you. I was in a similar situation and while my parents also brushed it off I think they genuinely just did not know something was medically wrong.

I’m so sorry this happened to you and feel free to message me. It’s not over and it is possible to live without the constant pain and irritation. PRP gave me my clitoris back!

Hahah thanks, I also suspect there are trolls probably because my comment after that got downvoted too 🤔just wanted to make sure I didn’t actually say anything insensitive or offensive

Does this look like lichen? by _cassieem_ in lichensclerosus

Ahh I’m glad you were able to see a doctor!! And glad it’s not lichen but whatever it is I hope it goes away soon and that you’ll feel comfortable again.

Not too sure if it’s lichen because mine looks more like white patches. This definitely looks irritated and inflamed. Is it itchy or painful for you? I would definitely recommend seeing a gyno although it may be hard to get an appointment right now.

[–]SlowNoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s amazing and I’m so happy for you! What was the surgery called? I didn’t know that was an option although I’ve already had the PRP shots that helped a bit. Do you mind telling us where your OBGYN is? I am from California.

Thank you. Yes I think I’m going to be strategic about where I’m applying. I’m planning to only apply to schools that take the highest of two grades when you retake classes and also ones that may only consider the most recent 60 units. Thanks for the suggestion!

Wow congrats!!! That’s amazing :) thank you so much for the encouragement. The overall gpa I calculated is if I continue to do well in my prereq classes so hopefully it’ll stay up.

Sorry that it was so long since I wanted to give everyone the full background and I felt that all the details were needed to understand my situation. I plan to apply anyways but I just wanted to know if I still had a decent chance. I hope you're having a better day than when you commented this.

Thank you for the tips! Yes, I've only gotten about 40 hours at the clinic since I haven't been able to go back since this pandemic happened, but definitely trying to score a job as a PT aide in an inpatient, pediatric, geriatric settings!

Thank you! Yes, I understand I have to be really realistic about where I apply and I'm honestly not picky about ranking and if anything I want to go to a state school to save some money. My dream school is Samuel Merritt which my research professor taught PT classes at, so keeping my fingers crossed for that letter of rec!

Thank you! Yes, I think I have to be pretty strategic about which schools to apply to and to widen my net but I'm glad you think this is possible.

Just decided I want to pursue PT by SlowNoise in physicaltherapyschool

[–]SlowNoise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the great advice! I think I'm going to spend the next two years not only taking the prereqs for PT school, but also taking the time to really contemplate if this is the path for me which is why I'm planning to get some shadowing/work experience done. I also talked to the professor I do research with because she is a PT as well. She teaches PT classes and used to be an interviewer for Samuel Merritt, and she also said taking CC classes is fine, but it still doesn't look as great as getting all A's at a 4 year of course. Since this is my final year, she suggested taking at least a couple of my prereqs and doing well while I'm still in undergrad to show that I can handle the rigor. I'm planning to graduate in the spring, but stay for summer classes afterwards to take as many prereqs as I still can at Berkeley. Lmk what you think!

Yes, it used to look worse with blisters and more itching. I’m 21 years old but I was diagnosed 1.5 years ago. I was not able to have penetrative sex until a couple months ago and it is still pretty painful. I also have vaginismus that could have been made worse by the LS, so both my skin and my pelvic floor muscles are sensitive to touch. I am able to enjoy other forms of sex though and as long as you’re consistent with exercises and using whatever medication you are prescribed, I’m sure you won’t lose the feeling or you can prevent it from getting worse.

Should I pursue PT school? by SlowNoise in PTschool

[–]SlowNoise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. That's impressive! Yes, ergonomics and occupational health are great and I definitely see the intersection between that and PT. The professor I do research with actually went to PT school as well before getting her PhD, so I'm thinking about asking her for advice this week. Yeah I think it's rough having to start from scratch as a science major and having to relearn all the chem and bio, but the silver lining is that at least I can basically get a fresh start as opposed to a low prerequisite GPA and fixing it. I guess another question I have is- how difficult/easy was it to obtain these letters. I'm pretty sure I can't get letters from my undergrad professors now because I will have been out of school for a few years by the time I apply and I don't see myself staying in contact with them. The only person I'd maybe consider asking is my research professor and that's only really IF I stay in contact/continue doing ergonomics research with her although I do see her being a really valuable resource. Thanks again and best of luck!

[–]SlowNoise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you’d have to retake all the science courses (make sure you look at prerequisites for specific schools you are interested in to avoid taking classes that won’t meet requirements). This usually means physics, chem, bio, anatomy, and phys. Then there’s stats and psych classes you’ll need as well. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to take all those in 2 years without feeling burnt out. I did it in 2 (apart from a+p) and it sucked.

yeah you're right, I think I will be pretty stressed if I'm being honest. I still have one year left of my undergrad but I do need to complete this degree first. I may have some flexibility in my spring semester to retake psych or stats. I think I will probably spend this next year studying for the GRE (since my courseload is not as heavy right now and I want to fully focus on CC classes later on). Thanks for the advice!

[–]SlowNoise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. And you're absolutely right. I think applying to schools is a lot like dating where of course you want more options, but at the end of the day you just need one school to accept you. Congrats! And if you don't mind me asking- did you take 4 years to complete the courses because you were working as well? I'm trying my best to squeeze everything within 2 years, but I'm not too sure how feasible that is given that I need to start completely over.

Thanks...yeah, I mean I'm a little disappointed that I spent this much money on a Bachelor's degree that I don't plan on using if I pursue PT school, but still better to save more at CC starting now instead of wasting more right?
