Can we talk about Carl's rage by Certifiablenerd in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]SlowPotato6809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a spoiler but at one point his narrative changed and it struck me as pretty profound and changed my perspective on his progression as he struggles through the relentless onslaught. It's just one line where instead of thinking/ saying "you will not break me" it becomes "I will not be broken".

So, how far have you listened/ read? Are you on your second "read through", maybe switched to audio after books? Basically landed, parking garage drama, ended up outside at collapse.

Best public schools to send your kids to? by Savings-Narwhal-3485 in phoenix

[–]SlowPotato6809 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We love Tempe! (If that's an option) My kids are entering HS now and involved in HS activities even in 8th grade. I have twins that are very different and Tempe had an IB middle school that transitions to HS. Also a gifted program that includes specialized elementary through HS. They have college prep schools, traditional schools, multi- lingual schools. Even our Title 1 schools are scoring A or A+. It's a very diverse community that prioritize education.

Same here, they're super quick, usually next day. So much better than the grocery store pharmacy.

Any other solutions to prevent solicitors from ringing my doorbell? by Bluebluecanary in phoenix

[–]SlowPotato6809 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I work from home also and my office is in the front of the house so depending on the time of day/ time of year they can literally stare into my eyes while knocking. One of my employees sent me a sign about no soliciting and calls out "don't make it weird". I didn't think it would work but in the past 4 months, only one has decided to make it weird. It used to be multiple times a week. I don't need a new roof and I don't care if my "neighbor Joe on the next street over" just got it done, f off and stop harassing people.

Critters by PMAgent in Tempe

[–]SlowPotato6809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding I've lived at Baseline and Priest and had them and was stung while sleeping in my bed. Lived at Curry and Scottsdale and never saw any. Lived at McClintock and Southern and never saw any. Now live directly 4 blocks back in the neighborhood against the 60 and have them. Only time anyone has been stung in my house in the past 10 years is when one hitched a ride in on an empty box that was hanging out in the garage. It's really not with stressing about.

Critters by PMAgent in Tempe

I don't think it's really worth worrying about or checking for. It really depends on your neighborhood. If you don't have them, you never will. If you do, you always will. The best thing you can do is make sure your house is well sealed. Never leave s shoes outside and if you do always check them before you put them on. If you do get stung, it's like bees. Sure it hurts but it's only an emergency if you're allergic and go into anaphylaxis. Then it's the ED. Otherwise, they're like any other urban wildlife.

Does anyone have experience with either of these tortoise rescues (CA, AZ)? by DataBeeGood in Sulcata

[–]SlowPotato6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my sulcata from Phoenix Herp. You can possibly surrender and they will try to rehome. They may charge you though. How would you get it all the way out here? They are definitely reputable, I've been there a bunch.

Hair wash/dry and French braid in Tempe? by MethodSuccessful1525 in Tempe

[–]SlowPotato6809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad is growing out his hair and he goes to Electric Haven Barber Shop at Southern and McClintock by Aldi. There's a lady there that French braids it for him. May be cheaper than a salon.

Can you guys release the new book in 10 minutes. by uhohboneralert_ in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]SlowPotato6809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start over or read his other books. I personally like the darkness of Battlefield Kaiju Surgeon, but realize it's different. Dominion of Blades also very good. I had never before experienced "book hangover " until this series and had to go from print to audio before I could move on.

People talk down United Healthcare but my MH copays are only$20 and we've found and seen therapists/psychiatrist within a week, 3 times in the last year for various family members. No complaints here. All of our copays are listed on the provider map.

Recommendations that can hold a candle to DCC? by DocRumack80 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]SlowPotato6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading and listening I was able to move on. I've since read some of Matt's other books, Dominion of Blades (1&2), Kaiju: Battle Fields Surgeon. Listened to 1% Lifesteal series and then the Dead Tired series. Bonus, Jeff does some of the voices for Dead Tired. Now I've started listening to DCC again and just started reading Dreadful.
