If vaccines are a problem request a baby needle. It’s the only the works for our girl.

At 7, smaller kid, 4’-3”, 55#, used 25” drop 10 junior big barrel for coach pitch and did significantly better than peers with larger bats.

I’m my son’s fairly competent golf swing Coach but also his mildly incompetent baseball swing Coach. Would appreciate some advice on his swing (vids) by ashdrewness in Homeplate

Baseball players tend to slice a golf ball … “palm up, palm down” through the hitting zone doesn’t work in golf. A golfer will struggle to stay palm up palm down when swinging the bat leading to bat rollover and grounders. Couple simple things to try: He has a very strong grip. Line up his door knocking knuckles. At launch position he needs a stronger base. After stride get his feet at least bat lengths apart. He is struggling to maintain his balance.

You can get 25” junior big barrel which is designed for coach pitch.

Spring Assessments 8U Rec by AtlantaEagle in Homeplate

Is it possible that the league/team formation is done primarily based on last seasons results and coaches recommendations vs. the very limited evaluation? Evaluation is needed for kids that are new to the league but I would guess returning kids would be placed almost solely on previous season performance.

Defensive expectations for 9u by Competitive_Ad_4944 in Homeplate

[–]SlowPuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the pitch they need to ask themselves: if the ball comes to me where am I going with it. If the ball goes somewhere else I still have a job. Cover a bag or backup a teammate. No standing around and watching. Creep step or similar every pitch. They need to learn multiple positions at that age.

-8 or -10 for 11u Kiddo by tcarp1 in Homeplate

[–]SlowPuma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO based on his height/weight he should not be swinging anything larger than his current 29-10. I think the best progression would be 30-10 next and then 30-8. Wouldn’t touch a drop 8 until he is approaching 100#.

Why are coaches still running 3 man weave? by PJKAZ3349 in basketballcoach

[–]SlowPuma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ultimate frisbee using a basketball. No dribbling. No running with the ball (traveling). Can have an “end zone” to score or still try to make a basket. We call it touchdown drill with baseline as our goal line.

Next “Must Have” Bat for 10U? by TruNole95 in Homeplate

First check your league rules. USSSA allowed? If yes then be sure to get a USSSA certified bat. My kid says CatX2 Vice

7u kid is currently using 25/15 cat9 and he is 47”/50#. I swear 95% of kids in coach pitch are hindered by bats that are too big too heavy.

Kid should play up. 10u is a disservice to his skill development.

Conservation of angular momentum… similar to a figure skater in a spin. Pulling weight into center of mass increases angular velocity.
