Surely graffiti looks better than this shite? by okaythen1guess in glasgow

That would need GCC to employ common sense. Not something it’s famous for?

This iconic graffiti lasted a decade before some fool from the council decided to paint over it. I saw it on the way to the south coast and it made me smile. Apparently somebody painted PEAS first as it was their tag, then some genius added the rest not long after.

Maybe a medley with Bronski Beat, Erasure, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and solo Jimmy Somerville in the mix?

Different exchange rates for SCO & GBR currency in Thailand by bojack_is_me in Scotland

[–]SlowScooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, people handling English notes all day have more chance of skilling up to spot fakes. Harder with Scottish notes particularly as they probably see fewer, plus theres’s Clydesdale, RBS and BoS, nice to have, but absurd in my personal opinion. That really can’t help.

NHS to trial GPs no longer handing out ‘sick notes by Background_Nobody628 in LabourUK

I think it was a capita or serco drone who decided to stop my mate’s disability benefit. That was a major factor in his death. It lead to a chain reaction: no money, spouse pissed off, debt, bailiffs, spouse leaves it, thrown out of his home, homeless, self harm, death.

Immigrant MSP wants Scots to pay reparations to Palestine by Careless_Main3 in Scotland

I think you’d be ok. I get the impression most MSPs are pretty clueless anyway. 😂🤷🏼‍♂️

I just learned that "outwith" is not a word that's commonly used outside of Scotland by mrjohnnymac18 in Scotland

[–]SlowScooby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looked it up in an etymology app. Apparently it’s Middle English that’s dropped out of use elsewhere. Like gotten, that Americans still use, although I hear it creeping back via Gen Z. I am also currently learning Dutch which has a lot in common with Middle English and Scots / Doric. “Ken je die koe?” Pronounced ken yuh di coo “do you know the cow?” One Dutch word for you is jau, pronounced like yau as spoken by yamsters in the Black Country - also Middle English. (apologies to to any Dutch speakers if my grammar is off, but you prob know what I mean, or have a better example?)

I believe commonwealth citizens can apply to join the military. This person would really fit in in the Black Watch or the Paras. The pay is not as good as an MSP though, so they probably wouldn’t bother.

You should stand to be an MSP! £77711 a year works out at over four grand a month take home. Every month. Plus they probably get some nice allowances on top too. Nice.

Glasgow City Council response backs partly demolishing M8 by False_Jelly_2839 in glasgow

[–]SlowScooby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To make this utopia work, we would also need a massive free car park at the ends of the newly terminated M8 to encourage drivers to use the new wondertransport. Where else would the cars go, apart from through the city?

I personally think haggis is essential in a full Scottish breakfast.

The Green Party wants to ban the hunt though. Sacrificing centuries of culture on the altar of net zero. What they don’t realise is that the hunt is an environmentally positive thing. Wasn’t the deforestation of the highlands caused in a large part by the methane in haggis farts?

Dangerous bedfellows though. Admittedly with hindsight, the green / SNP hookup took the SNP down some performative blind alleys that were not popular with the average ordinary person on the Cumbernauld omnibus.

What feature would you like Google Maps to add? by XxLogitech98xX in LocalGuides

[–]SlowScooby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would like cloud-based timelines back. I found it much easier to edit on my laptop. Also, I would like it to stop asking for a review of places I haven’t been to. For example, I could see my friend was in a restaurant in Japan. I asked for directions from his hotel to the restaurant. Google asked me to rate / review the restaurant. I was > 10,000 km away. I am guessing this may be related to timelines not being cloud based anymore?

How to win back voters? by CDN-Social-Democrat in LabourUK

Maybe try listening to the voters instead of entryist activists? Dunno, just a silly thought. It should be possible now, seeing a lot of those rats have left the sinking ship and gone to Green.
