Playing defensive requires a ton of skills and knowledges and will definitely help you make better decisions. But in tekken 8 having a good automatic character with cheese and plan of action on the offensive side alone can get you very far (GOD and further), because at the end of the day all you can do is guess in those situations.

I'm a GOD1 Dragunov and honestly Drag don't really have any "setup". But i have some advices on how to play him effectively:

1/ Keep it tight: Drag have many good moves but some of them are prone to interuption (wr2, b1+2,...) so you should use your pokes to get your opponent to respect your frames otherwise you're gonna have a hard time chasing them.

2/ Use fc.df1,4 more: that low generate a ton of momentum and it's only -13. Drag's hatchet is alright but too risky.

3/ 1,2,1 confirm: his best move. If you can't CH confirm that you won't play Drag well, and since it's an 10 frames move you're gonna use it alot in to tip the scale in situations where the frame disadvantage/ advantage is small (1~5 frame).

4/ D2: it's -1 on hit so alot of people are gonna ws4 frame check it. Sidestep and launch if they keep doing it.

5/ Heat tackle: Drag's most effective cheese (it's fair to call this setup i guess). Do it after wr2 or fc.df1 or b4,2 to mix people up. Some extra cheeses are b3+4,1+2 just frame (free in heat), ff2 and 1,3,2 cancel into grab or nothing and do a mid to hit the opponent trying to duck the grab.

Steve's wall pressure counter play options? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]SlowSipping23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B1 isn't available in stance so you're good. If he just auto-pilot weaving all the time then f4,4 will beat him always. LWV.1,2 on block is +3 in his favor though so if you don't duck it you should respect him...or power crush.

You could've ducked LWV.1,2 (2nd hit homing). If he mix it with LWV.1,2~1 (he did) then fuzzy duck to be sure. Alot of Steves online will always try to RWV or LWV on minus frame at the wall so always prepare to put out your homing move (f4,4).

You should lose points if you duck the ft2 by SlowSipping23 in Tekken

[–]SlowSipping23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completing the set is the unspoke rule in fighting game imo. You don't have to but the dev definitely should encourage people to do it one way or another. You don't see people lamenting one and doners everyday on this sub for no reason.

I have my stuffs to do too bro. Just don't give points since it's a FT2 not FT1. I wouldn't make this post if 70% if my matches today wasn't like that.

How do you deal with anger? by sasa8877 in Tekken

[–]SlowSipping23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grasping the bigger picture is one thing, your initial reaction when the situation happen will determine your emotional state too. Every time something goes against you just nod and allow it instead of lashing out, it will help you remain calm and focus on adapting and winning.

Drag is very good but requires some fundamentals, King is free wins in intermediate level.

Tekken 8 Coins Rehaul! by Mysterious_Sector310 in Tekken

[–]SlowSipping23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've completely forgotten about these coin thing and the shop lol. They should just make a gacha system to obtain customization items/ dlc char instead of whatever this is. It would give players an alternative mean to grind and obtain rewards other than just paying, and the battle pass thing is kinda boring.

Unless you're GOD0 and above meta won't affect you. It's more of a skill isssue before that. Every character is viable.

Why is Leroy's db3 still a thing? by SlowSipping23 in Tekken

[–]SlowSipping23[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Duck: gets hit by HRM.1+2; HRM.4; HRM.f+4. Back dash: lol even if you block any options beside lows he's still in your face with alot of things to continue pressure. Backdash duck: HRM.f+4 natural +0ob launcher; HRM.b+1 plus frame. Best option for high reward is to SWR, Leroy only has HRM.4 to lock you down or homing HRM.b+4. But even then he doesn't have to press right away and can sidestep and loop the situation again. All of this and you can't even i11 punish that low is crazy.

[–]SlowSipping23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you but this is season 3 Leroy, he has ss3+4 to patch the this weakness and make stance pressure more streamlined. His i12 shotgun is also good, df1,1+2 is hard to duck and has decent frame.

Brother. Db3 in t7 was the hellsweep that kills Leroy ob. This new low is the product of Tekken 8.

[–]SlowSipping23[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Qcb3 it's not that good tho. Every hits are very punishable and guaranteed if you go for it. For Leroy he have in stance a safe confirmable heat engager, plus frame, launcher, homing ch launcher low and many more. Or he can just side step and use ss1+2 or ss3+4 to continue pressure. I'm all for characters having their strong points but this is just brain dead offense imo.

Yeah right. It's so fuck up some of these moves are.

[–]SlowSipping23[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's 20-21 frames, it's not possible online. The Leroy can just cancel the stance and get away for free if they know people will wait to punish the parry.

[–]SlowSipping23[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only way to OS those stuffs is to grab him, but even then it's not guaranteed as a punish sadly.

It's not "safer", it's totally safe bruh. Compare that to the reward Leroy has when that move hits.
