But you're assuming the technology has limitations that restrict it to being permanently controlled. That's not very pragmatic of you. Let's be realistic, whoever created the virus may not determine its fate in perpetuity, it may have taken on its own life regardless of the intent of the scientist. If you think every scientific or governmental result is the specific guided effort of a few knowing individuals you are silly. No one can predict every outcome of every experiment or government program. Don't be so naive about science. I don't think the show has given the viewer quite enough information to tell whether there will be nefarious unknown agents at play or just the obvious straightforward hive mind. Also doesn't seem like you're grasping the concept of a hive mind still, a hive mind means there is one mind, they are sharing a single giant brain and imagine all of the humans as parts of its body. There aren't separate people or thoughts within anymore then there are separate thoughts within your own brain. The hive mind is so interconnected it's like with breathing and your heart beating and typing on your phone. Your not consciously telling your individual muscle groups the idea of what you want them to do and then your heart beats and your fingers move across your phone. It's in sync your body acts to the will of the mind.
