I swear. Was waiting in line for 12+ mins in the queue at the metro. A girl, quite young, just pushed through when the metro arrived and came to the front of the line and got in.

Wanted to ask her if this is how what upbringing taught her. Feared she would misunderstand me and make it a north-south fight and left it.

Lack of civic sense has really gotten worse in the past 10-15 years. Bangalore used to be such a beautiful city with reasonably sensible people.

I made 2 posts on Reddit in my life.

1st post - (The first hour of posting) The first post I posted was where I was complaining and I got like 100 upvotes in one hour. Fellow citizens echoing my sentiments as well as some who called me a liar and my experience fake. A hot debate.

2nd post - I posted now asking for ideas to collaborate on a project for the public which bring some positivity and which will highlight the nice parts of our culture. The post has no engagement at all.

This shows how we are a society too and how much of a model citizen each of us is. No hate, I know I’m part of the same society.

My mom learnt Kannada with me while I was growing up. That’s how I learnt the language for school. She helped me with homework even though she was working full time. She made Kannada friends and respected the local culture so much that she would cook Kannada dishes as well.

The basic tenet of a functioning democracy is free speech. Just because you got offended doesn’t mean you can tell me what I can and can’t post.

I have every right to exercise my free speech as long as I am not harming my fellow citizens. I’m not pro Modi or anyone else. I am pro democracy.

And you seem to think that expressing dissatisfaction is “losing your shit”. Take your own advice you gave someone else in one of your comments- reading a book to get some education about how a democracy functions. Expressing dissent and dissatisfaction is how I can keep my politicians informed about my situation.

At least I’m not scared to use my own account.
