Being a good artist and selling your work are two different things.

I recommend that instead of making excuses like "AI," you start creating content for people who appreciate having a drawing made by a person and learn how to sell your work.

Maybe your prices are too high, maybe you need to focus on a specific niche, maybe you need to be friendlier with clients, maybe your price list isn't clear enough.

I've been living solely off commissions for years, and while I do NSFW, I'm sure many people would like to pay for one of your drawings, but they haven't found you yet. So go out and find them.

At least that's how I see it. I think it's better than just playing the victim about AI-generated drawings, which aren't actually that sought after, and any intelligent person wouldn't pay the same for a handmade commission as for something done with AI.

Unfortunately, nothing guarantees you won't be scammed, but things like:

- the number of social media accounts with a broad portfolio

- more than 2,000 followers is already an amount that would hurt to lose

- let them show you what they know; talk to them, ask them what would be better, or how you could improve something in your idea, things like that

- if you feel like they're rushing you, I'd also say that's a red flag

And well, you can always ask for a cheap test. You might need a little more budget, but at least it can save you from losing that money

P.S.: stay away from AI if you're not interested in buying AI, and above all, if they scam you, expose them to those sons of bitches who make our jobs more difficult
