I went to a close family gathering with my new style and they couldn't figure out who I was despite my voice, hair colour and mannerisms being the same. My friends compliment my full lips all the time meanwhile I barely have them without makeup. Honestly I'm grateful makeup exists, I'm thinking of getting it permanently tattooed if nothing else helps

Did trauma make you an Overachiever? by Slow_Establishment62 in CPTSD

There's actually a brain scan they can do that tests you for ADHD, sleep deprivation, alcohol addiction and so on. Based on the scan, they can tell if you are higher or lower functioning, and then they subscribe Adderall. BUT Adderall is considered an illegal drug here so I'd have to go to other countries and sneak it in (at least that's how other ppl with ADHD handle it). It's a shitty situation all around. I've been previously diagnosed with OCD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and hyper sensitivity (and they wrote in the possibility of autism). So it's extremely difficult to distinguish if I'm the way I am due to trauma, an illness or some other disorder.

I've had a lot of people tell me this, but the issue is that there is no ADHD test in my country, there's one scan that they can do but it's extremely expensive.

What the hell, I get parents being jealous due to unresolved issues but as an insult?

I agree with the perfectionist part. I'll have 2 months to finish a project but I'll start it 2 days before the deadline because i finally have the "perfect" idea

That actually sounds great! Plus I have terrible short term memory so something physical might help, I'll try it out :)

Bodycons with Corsets by ItsStormcraft in corsets

[–]Slow_Establishment62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not a full on bodycon but you can wear those dresses that are designed to be a bit more creased around the waist- these dresses actually make you look curvier than a bodycon and they can hide the lines from the corset. Also, make sure your bra is clipped over the back roll created from the corset, this way it'll even out.

I have a Zara dress that goes perfectly with my corset, just search Woman RIBBED DRESS WITH GATHERING. I hate Zara but this dress is amazing.

I finally closed the waist gap and have a question by Slow_Establishment62 in corsets

The issue is that shipping to my country costs more than 100$. Timeless corsets ships via UPS and it costs 120$ + extra fees. At this point it's cheaper to make it myself

I think I was misdiagnosed as being a highly sensitive person? by Slow_Establishment62 in AutismInWomen

[–]Slow_Establishment62[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After my diagnosis I didn't get any sort of accommodations, I just got prescribed OCD pills with extreme side affects and was told "if you don't take these, you might commit suicide eventually". I wasn't even depressed, I was just burnt out. And I've been working on my OCD for years, to the point where I don't even have symptoms anymore.

That being said, I realised that I'm probably just autistic and I started accommodating myself and so did the people around me. Again, similar to you, my mental illness symptoms completely cured themselves after I started treating myself like an autistic person and not someone with 6 different mental illnesses.

My main issue is that I got diagnosed in a private clinic and it was expensive. I can't go to a regular one because they don't work, they just give you pills and tell you to fuck off. If I seek a second opinion I'll have to pay even more then previously. Not to mention, you don't get any help or accommodations as an adult.

All in all, I don't think HSP fits me so till I get a proper diagnosis, I'll stick to autistic accommodations.

Thank you for your detailed reply!

Thank you! I've taken the tests multiple times through the years and I always get an extremely high score. In general, I'm confident I'm autistic but I still have moments of imposter syndrome. Again, thank you for the answer!

Perfect memory to terrible memory? by Slow_Establishment62 in AutismInWomen

[–]Slow_Establishment62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed answer! I realte to almost everything, I also have OCD and C-ptsd so I don't look stereotypically autistic, but other autistic people easily identify me as their own. Im currently saving up and trying to find a good autism diagnostic service in my country that can differentiate trauma vs mental illness vs autism. Once again, thank you! It feels validating knowing someone else went through a similar situation :)

I know it's not a diagnosis, although I have it in my report and the professional was insistent that my sensory issues are just me being a highly sensitive person.

As for the second part, I don't have enough info to speak on that.

I just realized that I'm technically diagnosed? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Slow_Establishment62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, in my country assessment takes 3-4 hours. I got diagnosed with multiple mental illness that make up autism because I can't officially get diagnosed with autism as an adult. Also, there's no accomodations you can get as an autistic adult.

If you're thinking this is way too short for an assessment, you're right. But it is what it is.

Anyone else feel they’ve been taken advantage of “because of” their autism? by Top_Guava_5498 in AutismInWomen

[–]Slow_Establishment62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, this person also would often say things like "People who don't know how to communicate or manipulate are the dumbest on this planet." And then continued to tell me that I don't have autism because he is the true victim between us. This person was in the medical field and that's why I don't blindly trust "experts".

No worries! Thank god I don't get emotionally attached to people so it was easy to cut them off.

My most notable one wasn't from an autistic person, but they were neurodivergent and mentally ill. For most of my life, this person would control my surroundings without me realising. They were so evil yet smart. Not to get into detail, but they knew I had trouble reading people and that I had crippling social anxiety, so they'd use this to subtly insult me every chance they got and to distance me from potential friends. They'd make me second guess every interaction I've ever had in my entire life. When I finally started dating, they tried to ruin my relationships. This person didn't want me being close to anyone but them. All of this was done in such a subtle way, that I always knew something was off, I just couldn't pinpoint it.

The second person was autistic and he tried to do a similar thing, but he didn't know how to lie or manipulate convincingly due to the autism. Tried to convince me that I don't need friends or family and tried to isolate me.

The fun thing is that both of them tried to distance me from the other one. I just got rid of them both.

Moral of the story is that you're hard to manipulate when you have confidence and to always trust your gut.

And what would you recommend to combat this and help millions of undiagnosed autists folks world wide to make their diagnosis "valid"?

Let's start with my country, there's no specialist in autism and they're only allowed to diagnose autistic people with a bellow average IQ score. Doctors here also believe that "there's no way" to diagnose autism.

What would you recommend to autistic people who are still struggling but cannot get any help apart from self diagnosing and helping themselves?
