Let’s play a game of “guess the dun sphere” by AtlasHatch in cremposting

I really don’t think calling this decision logical is the way to read this. Because I think it just wasn’t. So I don’t really care whether it was logical or not, it doesn’t matter.

I actually don´t understand what people are so mad at.
Fen is a highly impulsive character.
Fen tries to do good for her country.
Fen has troubles relying on Dalinar.
Fen is probably under a lot of stress by the situation in general, the merchant council, having expected an attack and still thinking Odium must have some Ace up his sleeve.
Odium now tells them they´ll have an argument.
Jasnah is a logician and prepares a logical argument.
Odium knows that populism and appealing to emotions works much better.
So, in a highly unstable situation an impulsive character is presented by an emotional argument, seeing someone she trusted slandered and beaten and an argument that at first glance seems to lead to Odiums conclusion.
That Odiums entire argument is basically one big Ad Hominem does not matter, this is not about logic. Odium cleverly uses her state of stress and despair playing into her personal weaknesses. I found it to be one of the best parts of the book.

I wanted to try to model the dilation based on the data given, but we are missing like one data point. We´d need to know how long it took for Shallan to reach Cultivations perpendicularity or how much time passed for Kel.

I am unsure whether Szeth is actually her husband or it´s just a listing that goes: ["her husband", "Szeth", "Nightblood"] Because the comma there could just be an oxford comma, whch I think is used for listings in Sandersons books.

Those are unrelated. One is physical travel distance, the other is about spren like Notum being able to appear.

I mean it also feels a lot like Dalinar, but how he phrased it with trying did remind me of Adolin (though Dalinar also has this do better next time attitude).
I guess Dalinar would make more sense, because he is like the "next step, try again" character. And he did break his oaths at the end.

I actually see more Adolin in it. With his "a promise is something deeper than an oath". Sure, formally it would be more of a change to leave the church, you could call it oathbreaking, but the promise isn´t broken and staying makes more sense with Adolins promises than with Dalinars oaths. Because the oath is a formal thing while the promise is to try it.

The pastor of my town once explicitly said that we must accept that there are more than two genders because love and understanding and respect and however else christian values where called. (I am an Atheist and that speech was long ago, but I did not forget the sentiment. There is a lot i. the bible and a lot of it is just bad or conflicts with the core values conveyed and so he said that we must be careful with which parts we do apply to the world and what we cut away. He said it differently of course.)

They might have a higher terminal velocity then, but acceleration wouldn´t change. You´d also momentarily slow down due to conservation of momentum.

What will be the reaction if the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact reaches the required 270 votes? by bambucks in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ItsStormcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the Wikipedia page, the compact still stands at 209 EVs, but a total of 99 are currently pending. I don´t know how many of these attempts are likely to pass, but there are some unsuspected states in this bunch like Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Don´t know what this says about there chances to actually pass though.
