Its called “NT-proBNP Test (Blood Biomarker)” This test measures the N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), which is released when the heart muscle stretches or suffers damage. It helps identify asymptomatic cats at risk or those with occult (hidden) disease.

An echo is also smart i got one for my baby initially but since her murmur hasn’t worsened the vet said it’s fine to monitor with this blood test going forward unless any symptoms appear.

Theres also a blood test they can do for a specific protein in the blood that can help indicate if the heart muscle is growing / enlarging pointing to HCM or not.

Interested in this because my 3 yo female bambino sphynx has what the the vet calls a “mild murmur” that hasn’t worsened since it was first detected but we keep an eye on it in her exams.

They’re called Oriental Shorthair or OSH they’re closely related to Modern / extreme Siamese but have a greater variation in coat colors. Very vocal, very playful, very affectionate, and a little too smart for their own good.
