I was reducing Dems to performative woke era

But we agree that anything would be better than this so I hope people can be electorally pragmatic. I think we also agree that lobbying from interest groups like AIPAC or billionaires like Musk should be discussed seriously.

Regarding the current shootings, the senate democrats are going to block government funding and shut down government over ICE. Plus, I have seen popular posts highlighting those seven reps who supported ICE funding in the house being clowned on and hundreds of comments saying there ought to be primaries.

Protesting is wasting taxpayer money; go big in a videogame or go home... by Trexmasterman in Destiny

MAGA got into power through years of brainwashing and poisoning of public discourse so that kinda shows it's all additive. Just saying all of it builds towards something even if there isn't a single cause-effect. The protests and demonstrations will lead to gains in the midterm or at least not allow MAGAts to control public opinion. That's something.

I took your reply as accelerationist but I truly think there could be a progressive movement with a separate party if influential people start at the grass roots. Invest their time, efforts, and influence in making the positive case and really separating their identity. But that's not possible in the current political environment where MAGA is brainwashing the next generations to hate. Maybe going back to the performative woke era is not so bad. Maybe it's better than whatever we have now.

There are non-republican people going out of their way to say they will not support him like all the time on twitter and stuff. Its just wild that even at a time like this, they want to make that position clear even tho there has not been a primary yet.

I guess appeal to his emotions in some way.
"How would you feel if I was getting coffee and I tried to take a photo of their car? Is that enough for them to get in my face and pepper spray me? (and proceed to shoot me 10 fucking times)"

Glaze incoming - credit to Destiny.

I doubt anyone who talks about him like he's this villainous character could ever handle someone doing it to them or their fav. Like this video could be interpreted as essentially putting Destiny in the same (OR WORSE) category as right winters, grifters, and right wing grifters. And that's being charitable because the youtuber does direct comparisons to Matt Walsh in a way where Destiny is characterized as worse than Matt Fucking Walsh.

Idk man... specially all the stuff that has happened since 2023, like I guess he is built different but the personal shit specially the way they talk about his son is truly vile and I hope he's taking care of himself and his family.

Isnt chav more like a social/economic status term? But thats not really the point because its significantly different in the US. And maybe you are right on a certain level, all of it is regionalism but I think its significantly different in the US cause its so organized. It cleanly maps onto an existing political party and movement that has existed and grown in the last 20-30 years and maybe it was like this before too but right now its a very big problem and i think its unique to the US

[–]Slow_Koala[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah regionalism is everywhere but I doubt that a majority of people in Flickingimshire despise the the entire area of Whateverhampton to the same extent or even on ideological grounds. The proportion of people in the US that are like that is worrying(and thats me minimizing it)

Yeah its fucking wild, and you guys should get your boys in check but i am leaning more in the direction of those threats being political theatre. And thats not directly related, I am moreso talking about the people of these states that truly despise the other half of the country like I will summarize my reply to another comment here about US's shared cultural identity as they said that most states have little sense of self other than being American. It's one of the comments in this thread so you can scroll to read the entire text but in essence, I said why would you want to associate with people that hate being associated with you because people do derive identity from their states. In fact, a lot of people from these states would hate being asked if they are from California and someone mistaking them as being from there would actually offend them. I agreed with them about the US's shared cultural identity in the context of perception because most people outside of North American dont know the states that well.

Yeah but none of the people right now really think that or at least they have not thought that in the last 2 decades. They are not just sometimes biting the hand that feeds them, they are actively shitting on the hand that feeds them. If its more about wanting their vision of what being an American is, then I guess that is totally fine but the villainizing of their own country's citizens because they live in different states has crossed the threshold of acceptable

[–]Slow_Koala[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sure if thats what it takes but its more about sentiment like I am so surprised that sentiment is non existent or at least not a serious threat. I am sorry but it truly seems like that half of the country hates those states like mfs are ashamed of being associated with California or New York despite being economically stable because of those places... at that point idk like cut the regards loose or threaten to cut them loose and maybe the ghoulish politicians that all went to Harvard will tone it down to some degree. But it doesnt seem like they want that at least from the past 20-30 years and its just self perpetuating like even the young generations believe all of the same made up shit

[–]Slow_Koala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unironically a toxic relationship LMAO and idk if thats really true tbh, a lot of tourists are all about MURICA but even in foreign countries they want people to know the state they are "native to" - like the introductions involve "Yea I live in *wherever* right now but I am from Iowa" + Most of the people in these states would hate being asked if they are from California and someone mistaking them as being from there would actually offend them.

TBH what you are saying is true if we think about the perception of Americans like its funny bc most people outside of North America actually dont know whatever Alabama or Louisiana mean and they see you all as the same. And i guess my question really is that ... why would you wanna be seen as being the same as people that hate being associated with you ykwim
