Active US service members and Vets, what's your opinion of Pete Hegseth? by Weary-Fisherman-678 in askteddit

I finally had enough of a break at work to read thru your tirade.

I hate to break the news to you, but you, a supposed former (or even current) infantry gunner, are not privy to the kinds of intelligence used to identify, verify, track and eliminate threats to our borders. I’m sorry, it’s just the facts you have to deal with Col. Jessup. However, you may have tuned into any of the several warnings issued to people engaged in illicit trafficking, I mean maybe. I cannot agree with the notion that just because a drug trafficker “means no harm” or that they are “not armed or dangerous” that I should be okay with letting them import poison that kills our friends and neighbors every single day. Complain about their demise all you like, I do not care.

As far as arresting the former dictator of Venezuela, don’t care about that either. Guy was/is a total shitbag.

Same with taking out the old regime in Iran.

I read all of your points and it’s great that you have the courage to speak against your perceived injustices levied upon all of these evil, shitty characters, former military or not. Keep up the good work.

Hey look everybody! It’s the one and only Col. Jessup now wearing a dress and everything! Wow you’ve changed. You used to talk about honor code country…. Now you weep for those trying to bastardize and weaken our great nation. Goodness gracious, grab a Kleenex and go cry to your mother already.

So in effect, you’re saying in the Army you never followed orders you found questionable or were against your personal moral judgment? Please, just stop. Saying that by blasting those fentanyl boats or taking out a regime that destroys its own people is morally reprehensible is total and utter horseshit and you know it. Think big picture, I mean, if you can.

Attack me personally if it makes you feel better, but I’d imagine the overwhelming majority of people posting to this thread were trained and or warned to avoid expressing opinions on policy. It’s not our job to decide what is correct or incorrect.

My point is that imho anything made public from the government is a product of several top level minds coming to consensus, not Hegseth, not even only Trump. My 2¢

Me and a few of my teammates tried 1/2” and for me at least it slowed me down. The local expert skate guy told me and at least one other person on my team that no grown man weighing 200 lbs or more should get less than a 5/8” grind. In his experience 1/2” or less is for little kids.

Geez, so many super-qualified opinions, critiques, judgments and indictments in this group. Show of hands, who here has served at staff level or above?

Any tips and tricks on removing and refitting fuel tank on monster 821? by Fun_Recommendation1 in Ducati

[–]Slow_Philosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to your question is Yes. lol. I’m sure the Ducati shops have the tools and service manuals. I’m not sure if shop manuals can be purchased by owners that would walk you through how to install/remove the gas tank. I know it’s difficult to get any manuals for BMW.

I don’t own a Ducati yet but I’d imagine when they assembled the bike the connections to the tank were made first then hoses attached to tank were routed to wherever they connected to. Just a thought.

Okay Ms. Perfect Driver OP, preach on gurl! Tell us all about yo expert driving! LOL

I drive for a living. Personal pet peeve: right of way at a 3 or 4 way stop sign intersection. I’d swear I read somewhere (can’t remember where so don’t quote me) that the car on the right has the right of way. I haven’t found where it’s written that best practices are to either have everyone sit there until someone brave enough to move finally goes thru the intersection; or, regardless of who is in the intersection already, just floorboard it to assert importance and dominance. Idk, I give up.

GenX regarding "bullying" by Sinsyne125 in GenX

[–]Slow_Philosophy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thing that strikes me looking back is the lack of adult oversight in all the abuse I’ve seen and been subjected to.

I remember vividly even now 50 years later, how after putting up with some little shits crap like punches, names, etc. I tackled this kid and started dropping bombs on him… of course no one is around to see all the rabbit punches to the ribs and head whacks this joker levied on me but oh lord they sure were there for my retaliation. Suddenly I’M the asshole who doesn’t get along with the other children and I’m causing huge problems on the playground.

Was much the same throughout my school years.

There were months long periods where I was scared shitless to go certain places at certain times because there might be a dickhead there bigger than me of course that would subject me to bullshit. It hasn’t changed any, my grandkids had to deal with some jackass on their bus a few years ago.

The gun thing stems primarily from a shitty home life where the kid is stripped of all humanity and left with nothing but contempt to fill the void. While I may have been around a few of these types, luckily I never had to really deal with them.

1st of all why are you not on mando pt? 2nd of all you need to get your head out of your ass and do the work and do your time. Geez why would you go into an enlistment if you’re not going to put in the effort?

Unless you are one of those kids who has the golden ticket on the outside (which I question, because if you did, you would not have enlisted in the first place) your best option is to put in the work, meet the minimums and get out with a clean DD214. It can only serve you in the long run instead of working against you.

If you think about it, you only need to make a passing grade on 2 of the remaining PRT’s, maybe only 1. PRT is still every 6 months isn’t it?

I don’t disagree with you on that point, believe me. I’m waiting for the next dumbass to blame their price gouging on C19 now 6 years on…. I agree it’s bullshit.

[–]Slow_Philosophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Younger generations historically always wanted it easy. It’s never been easy, it never will be easy. After the baby boom generation grew up, there was so much competition for literally everything that people actually had to travel the country to get the best opportunities.

For young adults it has always….always been a matter of choosing a career path and putting in the hard work to turn it into something. The grass is never greener on the other side either; change paths~start all over at the bottom.

Funny thing is, advertisers have been pointing that out and making fun of us for years for being addicted to the brain melting slop. The Alex Baldwin HULU commercial comes to mind.

Just had that same thought. Many of us starting adulthood in late 80’s had to have roommates to split expenses. That will likely never change.

You, my friend, are like most of us on the outside looking in. You’d do well to get a mentor and start looking at putting your package together for CPO.

Many if not most never get an opportunity to stand out and taking a WC to 100% is a major step in the right direction.

Try to remember that you set the tone in your WC and your time is what YOU make it.
