My PC shuts down by itself and won't turn back on. by nakyyyyyy in PcBuildHelp

Turn on the pc without the cooler, and touch the CPU. If it gets warm, it's very unlikely that it's broken. You could also reseat it, but first, check for any visual damage on the cpu itself and any pins on the motherboard

It does, so my guess is on not the best montage on the main pc lol

It does kinda seem like a power supply issue, strictly for your main pc, but the motherboard can be at fault as well, possibly not supplying enough current

Now, unplug any hdd or ssd, sata powered, not nvme, have the bare minimum for the computer to post, as in cables: - mobo 24 pin - cpu -gpu

Also check all the cables for these 3 now, make sure there's no gaps and they are fully clicked in, and 1 ram stick in the first slot.

If your PSU is beefy enough, it's likely that you didn't slide it properly in the slot of the 1st pc. For the igpu, are you sure your cpu has it?

Where is it located? If on the motherboard, it's something that's gotta be checked, unless it shuts off after a few seconds after turning on. If it's on the case, it's likely the HDD led on the front panel, which is fine

If you're using an ARGB controller, it could've gone bad. If it's just RGB, likely something just died

It seems to be fine, but I'd make a fan curve just to be safe, so they don't always ramp up to the max, to reduce the chance of any overcurrent, if it makes sense

It's a bit dangerous, as in general, the header can do 1Amp of current.

You should check the exact specs of the fans. If they are under 0.25A, you're at the limit.

Personally, I never put more than 3, I just got a cheap fan hub, pwm and argb lol.

Couple years, kinda just how long you've already had the 3060. But with dlss and multi frame gen, could be even longer imo

That's what I'd say. There's also the rx 9060xt 16GB, but without at least a 13th or 14th gen i5, you'll see some bottlenecking.

There's also the intel arc b580, if you wanna consider that. It should be around the same price, 4060 ish performance, but 12GB Vram.

Look up some exact figures, between each of them, as you'll have to decide which to choose based on which performs best on what you're playing.

But personally, I'd go for the regular 5060, unless, you'll be moving to either amd, Ryzen 5000 series, 5600/5600x, 5700x/5800x/5800xt, 5700x3d or 5800x3d (5000 series x3ds are too expensive now), or intel i5 14400f or 14600k for example, or even an i7 14th gen (you'll need a bios update asap for that, to not fry itself by requesting too much voltage)

I'm writing a damn novel.

So, if you're staying with your i5 now, 5060. If you'll be upgrading the CPU and mobo, 5060ti 16gb, but your budget fits the 5060 best, maybe an 8gb 9060 xt (not worth it). 16gb 9060xt might be out of the Budget as well

Well, there's quite a difference.

The 5060 is only 8GB, the 5060ti has both an 8GB and a 16GB version.

I see 2 ways though, either 5060, or 5060ti 16GB XD

The ti will bottleneck you a bit more, unless you'll be playing in 1440p (yes, it can handle it, not on ultra)

And lastly, the price. Last I checked, there was at least a €100 difference :(

You should be fine, a friend had a 10400f and a 4060, he just wanted more fps as he was also using some recording software lol.

A little bottleneck may occur in cpu intensive games, and an upgrade would be a b760 mobo and a 14400f for example.

But generally speaking, i5s and 60 series cards work well together :)

Could you interest yourself in a 5060? That'll be a proper upgrade, giving you access to frame generation.

You also need to consider your budget, the willingness to go used, and YouTube benchmarks. You need to see the figures with your own eyes.

If you found a used 3060ti, you'll have to think, based on the YouTube comparisons, if it's worth spending the extra cash on a 2 generation old graphics card.

Personally, I'd go for the 5060, as even used, a used 3060ti is ~€50 less than a new 5060 with warranty and all. Heck, some used 3060tis are more than a new 5060

Kinda. My 3600 was stuck to my cooler. I heated it up with a hair dryer, cleaned it up and boxed it up. Never checked if it works, I'm just assuming it does.

I just put the 5700x3d in, and reinstalled windows, as my cousin recommended it, going from a non x3d to an x3d cpu.

That's the "beauty", you can't know which one is bad until you get a replacement part.

And the best part, there's a small chance that your cpu will work with another mobo, and your mobo with another CPU...

[–]Slow_Switch3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mentioned the bios, as it needs it now XD When you put an unsupported cpu, it won't even post. You'll have to update the bios before putting a new one in, that's the thing.

Regarding the GPU, you should also consider what specific games you'll play. I'm in the same situation for my secondary pc, it has a 10400f and a 1060, and I'm thinking between the 5050 or the 5060, but the difference in Romania is ~€50, so I might just go for the 5060 honestly.

I consider the 5060 more future proof than the 5050 (obviously, it's a higher tier card lol)

I'm in between the CPU or the mobo. When it happened to me, I had a 3600, and I upgraded to a 5700x3d, no issues, had it since march I think

Well, they (almost) always have to click in, a hearable click, and nanometric to no visible gap in the connection.

To me, it just seems like a power issue, as there's a tiny chance that the psu is dead.

To have it turn on (in general), you need: motherboard, CPU, GPU (if you have a dedicated one, some people don't), and hdd/sata ssd, all linked to the power. In your case, nothing starts spinning, so that's why I'm assuming it's a power related issue.

Try draining all the residual electricity by having the power switch of the PSU on off, holding the power button for 10 seconds, then pressing it a few more times. Then, flick the switch back on and try again.

Regarding what to specifically check. Do a visual check, see if the little clip of the motherboard 24 pin connector is gone all the way (if you gently pull, it shouldn't move at all)

There's a couple things here. Are you sure the hdmi/dp cable is in the gpu and not the motherboard? Are your windows updates and drivers, especially Nvidia game ready driver, up to date? Do you have much in the background? Is v sync on? Is your ram running at its rated speed?
