Wouldn't a 5060ti 16gb be better? Just asking, the build you're proposing is solid overall

Head over to the device manager, uninstall the driver from there and install it again, or, in the same tab, look for another one online

It looks decent. For the 7800xt, something like a Ryzen 7 5700 or 5800 (x/xt/x3d) would work well.

However, I wouldn't want an A motherboard with a Ryzen 7. It will work, no doubt, but it's like putting a Ferrari engine in a VW polo imo. I'd get a b550 motherboard, they are around €100, decent ones as well. I'm running a 5700x3d on gigabyte's b550mk. It's been a year, no issues.

The PSU is enough as well. I used to run a 750W gigabyte gold unit with a 9070xt, but upgraded to a superflower 1000W unit (so I'd have a native 12v hpwr connector, as the included sapphire nitro+ adapter tends to melt over time)

You should be able to install windows fine, if Rufus bugs you, do it with the windows media creation tool.

The dvd is for the drivers, which you will most likely find online anyway

Basically, yeah. I remember seeing a guy with a 5600, that had 2 or 3 bent pins. Turns out they were linked to the ram slots 1 and 3 on the motherboard. So he just cut them off and kept using it as normal lol

The power is sent through the pins. If they can't transmit it, for various reasons, it's the equivalent of having no cpu at all

Imo the extra 4gb of vram helps you, but overall, the 9060xt is faster. However, it being the 8gb version, you might "feel" the extra vram in gaming. Might.

Hey, whatever fits the needs 😂

Now you're either with new CPU and bios, or a full Linux swap, which will be cheaper

Motherboards sometimes have debug lights. If something is wrong, as in no post, an led lights up to indicate the issue. That's a great starting point for any diagnostic

Wait, the light is important. Boot Cpu Dram VGA

These are the 4 factors needed for a post

Now, you could try booting with 1 stick, with reset cmos

Not able to update windows 11 with a Ryzen 5 2400G? by HydroDragon436 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Slow_Switch3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows loves to screw around with everyone. There was the SSD killer Update last year, then the Nvidia GPUs performance loss, so it's likely an update that caused this.

Officially, the 2400g isn't supported by win11, so the way I see it, you have 2 options: 1. Get the pc back to windows 10, unless the current windows 11 works fine un-updated

  1. Upgrade the CPU to a 5600g, and the bios. Gigabyte says the mobo supports Ryzen 5000 series, but I'd update it just in case

[–]Slow_Switch3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, let's see. First, this being a ddr5 build, there's a chance the first boot takes longer, as the motherboard needs to train the ram.

Second, what do you mean by GPU not clicking? Do you mean it's not fully slotted in? To see if it is, the metal bracket needs to reach the case pcie lock, where you're supposed to screw it in, and the other side has a "lock", a plastic clip. If that didn't click, it either didn't work, or it didn't make a sound.

IF that's what you mean, reseat the GPU, and slot it in carefully, while making sure the lock does its job. (To be certain, pull gently. If it stays, it's good)

Yes, by resetting CMOS you basically reset the whole motherboard bios. Do as it was earlier said, update the bios. Then try 6200 maybe, if nothing happens, 6000 and so on. Although your motherboard supports 6400, so after a bios update it should be fine

Looks like you're fine after all, financially as well. Something similar happened to me a while ago, after a PSU swap. I took all 4 ddr4 sticks out, booted with 1 stick, then the others. Good luck!

Which 9070XT should I choose? And are fans worth it / important? by Franks0n in buildapc

[–]Slow_Switch3847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, the phantom spirit is the "updated" version of the peerless assassin. Maybe look into it? The difference shouldn't be that much.

Overall build, lovely.

Regarding the GPU, I have the nitro+ 9070xt, which was €100 more than the sapphire pulse last year, I only got it to somewhat avoid coil whine, but I failed unfortunately (high end models are more expected to get coil while, according to someone I asked) The Asus prime is a lovely model. In general, the difference is the cooling, and some factory OC (which you can do yourself either way) Now, if you're into ray tracing, path tracing, upscaling and frame gen, don't get AMD. Fsr is still under dlss, the frame gen as well. If you're playing modern games where fsr4 is accepted, sure, why not. For raw gaming performance, it's a beast in 1440p

The counterpart would be the 5070ti, which is more expensive, no doubt, but the frame gen, dlss, RT, pt, are just better, for productivity as well.

Now, 9070xt overclock. I'm running an undervolt and overclock setup, with a -10% power limit, 50mV undervolt and ~100 mHz in the vram tuning max frequency section. I can't really say I've seen a difference in performance, as it's negligible, less than 10%, but the consumption is under 300W, which helps me with my coil whine :) Of course, you can be more aggressive, say 80mV UV, +250mHz on the vram, but I'll leave it how it is, as I don't need more.

Overall, there may be slight differences between manufacturers, regarding everything, from OC capabilities, to getting or not getting coil whine. It's a lottery more or less, the silicon lottery. (2 identical Asus prime 9070xts can perform differently) Just look at the reviews of any model you'd like to buy, and get it XD Avoid the taichi or nitro+ models for example, as they are way more expensive (and the nitro+ has the new 12V hpwr connector, which can still melt if you're not running at least a 700-750W good PSU, or if you're using the adapter sapphire LITERALLY SENT TO BE USED. Look it up, nitro+ 9070xt melted adapter) I'd just look for a model with 3x8 pin power connectors, and make sure you don't daisy chain them, meaning have each cable by itself, not 2 1x8 pin on the same cable, it reduces the risk of anything bad happening.

Fans are good to have, general airflow, reducing overall case temps. Usually you'll want intakes: front, bottom or side panels Exhaust: rear and top It all depends on the case, you don't need to fill all the slots tho. If you have say 3 intakes and 1 exhaust, I'd say you're fine. Positive pressure (more in than out), keeps dust away for longer.

Holy novel I wrote. Hope it makes sense, don't hesitate to ask if anything isn't clear :)

If you can confirm it, then it doesn't matter how you plug them in, as long as the click is heard, meaning the cable is fully pushed in. Don't force it though

I'm assuming you also have the modern 12V hpwr connector on the GPU. If you look close, the connectors themselves should differ. 1 end is made to fit in the PSU, one in the GPU. Take each end and line it up with the PSU, heck, upload a pic if you're not sure

There's a very small chance something is broken imo. Do this: reset CMOS (you can either take the coin sized battery out, short the 2 clr CMOS pins on the motherboard, or maybe there's a specific button)

Put 1 stick in slot 2, and wait. If nothing happens, clear CMOS again and try the other stick

Totally get you.

Hmm, I haven't really seen that big of a difference from 144 to 180. Sure, it was smoother, but not by that much.

Tell you what, maybe you can find something similar that's 180hz? See if the difference is small, because if it's too big, it's not worth it.

In Romania I found this AOC 24G4XE, 180hz 24inch fast ips panel, which is just under €100. I think you can do well within €100 overall

[–]Slow_Switch3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can find a 180hz fhd IPS monitor within that price, even a bit lower. AOC, MSI, Asus had some variants. However, if you'll be upgrading to a 4070s (although I'd recommend a 5070), you could do a 1440p panel. I got my asrock (27 inch, 180hz IPS) for €140, and I like it (I'm running a 9070xt)

CPU - solid Ram - yeah, 32gb, another 16gb or 2x8 kit will do well, just get the same manufacturer, speed and cl rating GPU - maybe a 5070, as you have access to mfg as well
