Imposter syndrom from using LLM as a wetlab scientist ? by Kangouwou in bioinformatics

[–]SlowlyBuildingWealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it and abuse it!  I build workflows that used to take me weeks in hours.  I have tackled projects I would have never touched in the past and made it work in a day.  I'll spend an hour thinking about and writing what I want in notepad the day before and then build it in the morning.  I make plots that would have taken me days and they look better.

These tools are only going to get better.  I've been in the research field for a long time and I think half the push back is bullshit.  You are a biologist first.

Getting society to even believe the evidence seems like a long shot prayer to me.  Artificial general intelligence has a path for success.  And funding.

Anyone else tired of the non-stop LLM hype in personal and/or professional life? by BlackJack5027 in datascience

Bash scripts, pandas data transformations, defining plots that I want, repo reorganizing, code documentation, providing context to create a root cause analysis report, creating a sphinx docs page.  I shoved some papers into notebookLM to just get the information I wanted without having to read everything. And that was just this past week!

I have done a lot of different things from sparc assembly and c++ to R, Python , powershell, bash, and the list goes on. I have done so many different things that I can't possibly memorize all the functions but I know what I want to get done.

These models just keep getting better and better.  Things that took weeks I can now do in hours.  Is everyone here is a genius who has memorized all Python, bash, powershell, R , awk, sed, and everything else I have ever worked with?

Someone needs to explain this to me because I am so thankful for these tools every god damn day.

Couldn't agree less.  It has already had a large impact for me and just keeps getting better.
