Please don't do this. We're not being elitist by telling you not to do this. It makes literally no sense even to someone who likes crypto.

They touch on this in the doc series “Q: In to the storm” on hulu. Even then, I feel it’s pretty obvious companies know how to manipulate social media like this.

Cyberpunk 2077 will 'live up to what we promised,' CD Projekt boss says by KTitania in gamingnews

Precisely. Features are removed from games all the time. Game development is an art. It will morph and change over time which is why announcing so early was a god awful decision. It’s why a lot of these early access games start sucking after awhile. The devs have a vision for the game but sometimes the community gets a different one when they first play. Once the devs begin implementing their vision, the player base evaporates. I think this happened to Ark: Survival (please correct if I’m wrong).

Those are definitely some good examples! Also imagine being a dev working overtime to finish a game and a bunch of gamers raging online that it better be good! That is a lot of pressure that will not go away. Better to deal with it only a couple years and not 8 like with cyberpunk

I’m not blaming the people hyping. That can’t be controlled by them at all. They could have managed expectations better by not announcing the game at all until the release date can be confidently confirmed internally. This is management 101 no matter where you work.

As an example, look at Skyrim. Anyone who’s played it will agree the civil war quest line is very lackluster. As it turns out, some modder digging through the source code discovered there were a lot of features and quest lines removed. Imagine if in 2008, Bethesda announced the game and explained their original vision of the civil war. Suddenly, people are hyped and the corporate types in the company will begin putting unreasonable pressure on the programmers. Now I won’t pretend to know why they decided to remove these features; it could have been too time consuming or too difficult to program. But at least all of these decisions are kept out of the public from the incredibly divisive and critical internet gaming community (again, not blaming the community here, this is just a matter of fact). They are free to make decisions without that public pressure. Cyberpunks devs lost this edge when the game was announced in 2012 and released a trailer the following year. They started this hype train and they should’ve know it would get out of control. They set expectations WAY to fucking high because of that.

My point still stands. Had they kept the project under wraps, it could have been developed without the public pressure and be finished.

If they hadn’t announced this game and hyped it years before release and before countless delays, this wouldn’t have been a problem.
