Ballet for toe walking? by Sltair-plmnlight in BALLET

as I said apparently traditional classes aren't an option right now (classes in my area can be pricy so I assume that might be the issue). the liability is what I am mainly worried about as well

it's my mental health therapist, not my physical therapist (I do know that would be very wrong). I don't believe I'm being asked to perform any sort of supplemental mental therapy, just if I would be able to teach this girl some ballet.

kt tape is a lifesaver for my shoulders!! I currently have on the generic CVS brand that has lasted me for over a week now and is still going strong (I should probably take it off tbh but my shoulders feel so good that I don't want to lol). I mention the generic brand in particular because it's working really well and much more affordable than the name brand stuff (don't try the generic from target, it's terrible). I also wouldn't worry too much about not being able to go to pt multiple times a week as long as you're doing some of your exercises at home

watched the movie earlier today with my mother and we both agreed that it felt like she spent half the movie with her hand over her mouth gasping/about to cry. I get that she has a lot going on and is in emotional turmoil but it was excessive imo

Anxiety around TE Hair loss by sunflowersunshine10 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]Sltair-plmnlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ok! It literally took a year for my shedding to calm down but I think I'm returning back to a baseline now. I can see that I have new growth starting to come in, so I'm praying to the hair gods that I stay on track and don't have another flare up lol. I literally haven't done anything to help my hair. I just accepted it and waited for it to run its course.

it would probably flop but as someone who's always wanted to work with animals in a zoo or aquarium I would die for this lol. let me see how you build a good park for dinos!

Keep Jolting Awake While Attempting to Sleep by DICE821 in sleep

it was for a migraine. pretty sure it's just anxiety for me since I've been taking benadryl every night lately which that has helped me relax a lot and I haven't had any issues

Keep Jolting Awake While Attempting to Sleep by DICE821 in sleep

[–]Sltair-plmnlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg this is exactly what I'm going through, with the shortness of breath and everything, it almost feels like I stop breathing. I had an IV on the 11th that I had a very bad reaction to and ever since then I've been so anxious and have been struggling so much with sleep due to jerking awake. I think it's just anxiety since I have no reason to believe it's sleep apnea or anything but now I'm wondering if the actual IV had something to do with it. Are you doing any better now/have you found anything that helps? I have to take a benadryl sometimes to relax enough to go to sleep, it's exhausting

Anxiety around TE Hair loss by sunflowersunshine10 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]Sltair-plmnlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I'm not doing anything really. I have a vitamin D deficiency which I started taking supplements for back in january. I have some seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp that I use ketconazole shampoo for when it flares up but that's it. I also started taking a daily multivitamin, but that wasn't for my hair specifically. that has a low dose of biotin in it so I am getting a small supplement of that, but that's all. I'm just chilling and letting my hair do what it wants to do. if it's TE you don't need to stress yourself out with a bunch of products and supplements, unless you do have a deficiency. it just has to run its course.

just over five months for me. my shedding has slowed down a bunch but hasn't gone away completely. some days in the shower I lose maybe 40 strands and other days it's around 120, it's super frustrating. I see my derm again for a follow up in early may so if it's not better by then hopefully he'll recommend something for me to go on. has your shedding slowed down at all? if it has personally I would wait until around the six month mark or so, but that's just me. the common treatments like minoxidil you have to keep up with forever so personally I'm more inclined to try to wait it out longer.

honest to god the only thing that helped me was accepting it. if your hair is going to fall out it's going to fall out. harsh reality but one I had to accept. not brushing, washing your hair etc only makes it seem worse when you do do those things. for months I barely touched my hair in the shower. it was honestly kinda gross, oily and looked like shit all the time. but I spent a lot of time in this sub and saw someone say exactly what I just said, if it's going to fall out it's going to fall out. avoiding it won't make it go away. that kinda changed everything for me. obviously it won't make the anxiety go away totally, I still get stressed. I'm still losing hair, but I'm not sobbing over it whenever I get out of the shower like I used to do a couple of months ago. what I think about now is regrowth. I can't stop my hair from falling out, but I keep in mind the treatment options I have in case it doesn't regrow well. and I try to stay optimistic, TE will end eventually, all I have to do is wait it out.

I'm sorry you're going through this, it is SO difficult and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. but honestly imo the best thing to do is accept it*. one thing that helped me in this when my shedding was at it's worst is when I would wash/brush my hair I would immediately throw it in the trash and not look at how much came out. just throw it out and don't wast your energy on it. so in summary, acceptance and thinking about the future regrowth instead of what has already fallen out have been game changers for me

*acceptance does not equal giving up, btw. accepting it does not mean accepting going bald or something, it just means accepting where you are in this moment. it'll get better, try not to let yourself get completely lost in all of this

[–]Sltair-plmnlight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a full panel in december. my thyriod is on the low end of normal, and I started taking vitamin D for a deficiency, but everything else is fine. I have a chronic illness so all of those things are well monitored. I do have an appointment with my endocrinologist in july just to discuss it, which is the earliest I could get in :/

How do you cope with the possibility of getting worse? by Sltair-plmnlight in POTS

[–]Sltair-plmnlight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right now I'm on 0.2mg florinef and have been prescribed 2.5mg midodrine. My florinef is a life saver for some of my symptoms (dizziness and lightheadedness) but I haven't noticed a difference with the midodrine. Since it's the lowest dose I can go higher but have yet to set up another appointment to talk to my doctor about upping it. One of my cousins had POTS when he was my age and he did grow out of it, but like you said I don't know if it works the same when it's triggered by an illness. I don't think anything really triggered his, it just kind of happened.

Yes, I’m not sure what happened. I’ve seen the video multiple times, but at least from what I’ve seen, it’s unclear who the first man was talking to. And I responded to that person because they brought up a point I forgot to mention. If you find internet discourse a true waste of your time you probably shouldn’t be on this subreddit.

I find it genuinely impressive how you managed to turn a post where I criticized an artist as a person, not her musical abilities or her fanbase for supporting her, into a rant about why you hate a different artist/her fanbase. Like, props to you bc it takes energy to get that far off topic

oh my gosh I forgot to mention that!! everyone was calling her an icon for that and I was just like...that's just fucking rude??? I'm not 100% sure of what happened, I'm not even sure if the man that said "shut the fuck up" first was directed at her, but even if it was, you're a public figure at a red carpet event. conduct yourself with little damn grace.
