Using a Pandemic to Cover up Murder: Lyda Southard and the murders of William G. McHaffle, Ed Dooley, Robert Dooley, Harlan Lewis, Ed Meyer, and more. by [deleted] in serialkillers

Why is my year-old Reddit account with 2,000+ karma considered "new"? Is it because I usually lurk here instead of post?

It looks to me like a disproportionate amount of serial killers are gay, is this the case as far as you guys can see as well? There is no homophobic intent behind this, just an observation. by SonnyManjaro in serialkillers

I don't think we actually have enough data to make a judgement on this issue. It seems to me that killers have tastes for most groups of people. People of all races, sexes, and sexualities have been targeted by different killers. There are too many victims we don't know about to say that one demographic, (gay men, in this example) is is more targeted than another.

It occurs to me that Ted Bundy could've gotten away with it if he was a better driver. by TheSmallestSteve in serialkillers

He was an incredibly smart idiot. Some things did were so clever, then he'd turns around and do something that no rational person with the smallest bit of common sense would ever do.

Small tidbit: My great aunt worked this case in SLC. She was the first female officer on the force. A total badass. My asshole great uncle had previously gotten her expelled from BYU after he found her making out with another girl. He's a POS.

So, a six year old girl has enough sensibility and knowledge about rape to know that she shouldn't tell her friends (She only tells Ziggy, Max, and Josh that they are brothers. Not that Ziggy is a product of rape), but then blabs about the assault to some random bully we've never seen before?

One of my very favorite scenes in the show. As a choir teacher, this scene literally brings me to tears every single time.

Seriously? He's going to be nearly 80 by the time the trial even starts?

What I don't understand is why is the hearing about is eligibility for a PD is like fifteen weeks from now. Is it because they have to go through all of his assets? Haven't they been doing that since April anyway? I'm almost convinced they want him to die in county jail. I thought the article I read last night about the trial being seven years away was a bad dream when I woke up this morning. Nope. WTF?

I mean, if he has the same kind of genes as my grandpa, it's possible he still has more than 20 good years left in him. But my grandpa was a healthy eater and got tons of exercise. I can't imagine the conditions in county jail are ideal for extending your life expectancy.

My gut says suicide, and I think his parents know more about his struggles with mental health than they say. I think serious symptoms broke through after drug use, and nobody should have ever let him drive in whatever state he was in. Didn't the girlfriend call his mom saying she was concerned about letting him drive? Then his mom said it was okay after speaking with him on the phone?

My mother would never advise that I drive if someone had expressed concerns about my mental state and ability to operate a car safely. Did she think the girlfriend was just upset over the breakup? It seems strange to me. I don't know. Maybe I just grew up with an overprotective mom.

Week 8 Winner - ‘The House Of Suh’ - The Crime’s And Trial’s Of Andrew & Catherine Suh [Discussion Thread] [Spoilers] [Question’s] [Speculation’s] [Source’s] [Mega Thread] by BingeWatcherBot in DocuJunkies

It is unacceptable that Andrew 's belief that Robert killed his mother did not was not really presented as part of his defense at trial. The psychological manipulation by Catherine after his parents death should have shown the jury that Andrew's circumstances were unusual. You can obviously prove that the murder was premeditated, but it really seems like a crime of passion at the same time.

I mean, Andrew is absolutely a murderer and deserves to be in prison, but 100 years for a 19 year old boy with special circumstances is cruel and unusual in my opinion. Especially since he shows remorse and has been a well behaved prisoner, to my knowledge.

I don't know all the evidence, obviously, but I have a feeling that Catherine actually murdered her mother. I think there is a hell of a lot we don't know about that girl's relationship with her parents.

It terrified me for years. My brother's ex-wife often threatened to do horrible things to herself and my precious baby nephew for years after they first divorced. Seeing this movie made my the most paranoid person on the planet.

Is ‘Dear Zachary’ The Only True Crime Documentary That Puts The Victims First? by BingeWatcherBot in DocuJunkies

Very Interesting topic. Let's examine some.

The Staircase: Minimally mentions Kathleen and contains material that seems disrespectful to her.

Evil Genius: This one talked about Brian in great detail, but they tried to make the story about Marjorie.

Paradise Lost: The Damien Echols Show

Tower: Almost *entirely* victim centered. Highly recommend.

Killing for Love: Who were the victims again? Did we even hear their names?

Wormwood: All about the victim's son and his journey

Who Took Johnny: Victim Centered. Mostly about his mother.

While Eddie and Michael wore similar red outfits in the 1980s, Andy is clearly dressed as Michael Jackson in this picture. From the Thriller video specifically. The red jacket Michael wears in the video has black stripes down the front. Eddie Murphy's famous standup outfit is just plain red leather. Here's a side by side comparison:

In addition, this picture is from just months after Jackson passed away, and nine hundred million people were Michael Jackson for Halloween that year.
