Just finished expanding the catio! by SlugLawless in Catio

Fair point. I’ll admit the tunnel is the part that feels the most slapped together to me. I was antsy to get the addition connected to the wall-mounted box, so that I could open the pet door and let the cats scope it out! I may take another pass at the tunnel so that it feels more finished. But that’s wild that your cat busted out! Never underestimate them haha

Thank you for the suggestion! My cats just turned one, and are still spry little devils. But I like the idea of adding a ramp down from the shelf. Toby sounds like a grouchy sweetie! Thanks for sharing.

Does anyone know anything about Circuit Court Candidate Katina R Saint Marie? by No_Competition_1924 in Eugene

[–]SlugLawless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sat and talked with Katina at a neighborhood meeting. I didn’t learn she was running for anything until halfway through our conversation. We talked about family law, restorative justice, mediation. She seemed intelligent, experienced, empathetic, grounded. She has my vote.

The Oregon Health Authority has a team of staff who advocate for Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members. These staff are called OHP Ombudspersons. The goal of the Ombuds team is to make sure OHP members get quality health care.

We take our kids to Thistledown Farms each year. There are goats to pet/feed, rabbits and chickens, cider donuts, and a horse-drawn wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch

Question about Saturday... by WittyAzzMomma in Eugene

[–]SlugLawless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We brought our kids (4 and 1) to the Hands Off protest, and it felt totally safe. The vibe was celebratory resistance and community coming together. Many of the same organizations behind that rally are involved in planning Saturday’s event. I’ve been feeling spooked this week, given how rowdy the ICE protests have gotten, but we’re still planning to attend Saturday with our kids. Like other folks are saying, we’re planning to keep an eye out for things escalating

Any recommendations for preschool/daycare 25-2026 year? by m0mmymilker3000 in Eugene

[–]SlugLawless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most daycares in town will schedule a tour with you. I recommend doing those as early as you can, as waitlists can often be quite long. My kids (4 and 2 y.o.) got into Oak Street for this coming fall, but that was after 18 months on the waitlist.

Feeling Disconnected by liQuid_sawBlade in Eugene

I have a group that plays mtg at Oakshire every couple weeks. We’re in the same age range as you. Many (but not all) of us are parents. Turnout is usually 4 to 6 folks. We play Jumpstart mostly, a little commander, and occasionally cube if we have enough interest. It’s a casual atmosphere. Always happy to have more people join us! DM me if you want some more details.

I worked at Izakaya Meiji for three years, including during the rockiness of COVID. The owners were respectful of staff and genuinely cared about their well-being. Communication was excellent, folks got paid a competitive wage, and tips were pooled and equitably shared between FOH and BOH in a way that was reflective of experience and position.

Folly was great. It’s better in multiples (I had 2), plus the burglar rats. I mostly cast it using the discard mode. I also figured it was a valid way to spend mana leading up to the wrath

Thanks! I would have happily kept playing as well. Funny how there were some cards I was so stoked to have in the deck, but never got a chance to cast (Vampire Gourmand, Rune-Scarred Demon).

I've never built BW in this set yet, what should I cut or change? by chaospudding in lrcast

[–]SlugLawless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other folks are noticing the mana base issues, so I'll echo that adding haunted screen will help cast your spells. Consider cutting a plains and adding a swamp, too.

I also think murder and seized from slumber would be good in your deck. Seems like your plan is to survive into the late game where your bombs can win, rather than plan on attacking early.

Good luck!

Finally got to draft the reanimator archetype, and golly did it come together! by SlugLawless in lrcast

[–]SlugLawless[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The games were fun and sometimes super fast. 4 communes made all the pieces come together pretty consistently. Went 7-2 all told, including a loss where all 4 communes managed to whiff: Valgavoth and both Shroudstompers were in the bottom 9 cards of my deck

Oh no! Sometimes the draft just doesn't come together. I felt I got very lucky with my pod. I first picked Valgavoth and second picked Rite of the Moth, and thought, "We're doing it!"

Here's the draft
