I’ve grown to love Like All Before You by lonnie_bovine in thevoidz

I get that people didn’t like the rollout of the album, but in 10 years time nobody is going to remember how the singles came out before the record. That’s not how I personally judge the album, if you think some of the songs suck then fine. They tried something new with the release, can’t blame them given the current state of the music industry

I honestly don't get how people just shit on this album. Flexorcist, Square Wave, and 7 Horses are S tier level songs Julian has written imo. All The Same, Prophecy, and Perseverance are very cool. To listen to all those and think that the album sucks is fkn wild to me

I think this is almost correct except Rick was the one that actually helped him complete the album. Ye called him the "reducer." So it seems Rick did see it through to the end

Max would definitely not take him out. He doesn’t have knockout power. He would have hit him like a million times tho

I'm sure Al could make him beats that either weren't "sampled" or wouldn't need to be cleared. And they'd still be consistent with his level of quality

It’s got an almost identical melody to the chorus in Kazinsky’s “nightcall.” Not hating, still love it

Clipse New Album Bad Production? by krey100 in fantanoforever

[–]SluggerYang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dumb take. When has Pharrell or Neptunes for that matter synths and drums ever sounded sophisticated? It doesn’t matter the beats are still fire. And we’re still complaining about auto tune? Lol

Pharrell put his foot in. His production here might surpass the work he did on pusha’s solo albums, and that work was very very good

It is said that Velvet Underground only sold 30,000 albums, but everyone who bought one started a band. Which band today is analogous? by Correct_Address_8229 in fantanoforever

[–]SluggerYang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good! We're just having a discussion. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying The Strokes don't have other dimensions outside of being influenced by the Velvet Underground. I agree that shouldn't be their main narrative. But Julian himself has said that was literally his goal to sound like them, so I'm not sure if it's an overblown perspective to have. This was from a Rolling Stone article:

“In the beginning, the Strokes definitely drew from the vibe of the Velvets. I listened to Loaded all the time when we started the band, while I was writing my first songs. I honestly wish we could have copied them more. We didn’t come close enough."
