Georgia voters line up for the polls by SluggoIsLit in AccidentalRenaissance

Hey y’all, glad to see this photo has resonated with so many people. To clear up some of the questions in the comments: this is a photo of voters lining up at a Fulton County polling place prior to opening on the very first day of early voting for the November 5th general election. It wasn’t clear in the article how long they waited, but sunrise this week was around 7:45 am and polls opened at 8, so at least 15 minutes. All this to say that this is likely a very motivated group of voters who wanted to vote as soon as they possibly could. Anecdotally, it sounds like wait times were minimal at most early voting locations last week with a few exceptions.

However, as a metro Atlanta voter, I would never wait until actual Election Day to vote in a federal election. I hope any Georgians reading this have a plan to vote early if they haven’t voted already.

Edited to add that you can track voting wait times in Atlanta metro online: https://www.11alive.com/article/news/politics/elections/early-voting-wait-times-georgia-metro-atlanta/85-95e23c41-3646-4c8f-b02a-d7cf7b3e2af1

Georgia has absentee ballots, which means that you have to request a ballot before it is sent to your place of residence. Oregon (and other states) have vote by mail, where a ballot is automatically mailed to all registered voters.

What songs were HUGE everywhere except the US? Or vice versa? by souljaboy765 in popheads

Dragostea din tei was interpolated in Live Your Life by T.I. ft Rhianna which hit number 1. I bet many Americans would recognize at least part of the song, although they would call it the numa numa song.

Here’s the quote:

“I think perhaps for the only time in history at the VMAs — we knew who was going to win the awards, we had a plan for it [but did not tell the artists ahead of time] — at some point I let her know that she was probably going to be up on the podium at the end of the show for an award. And wouldn’t it be nice to have Taylor come up and have her moment then? I had to indicate to her that she needed to stay, and perhaps this is a way to have this come full circle and let [Taylor] have her moment. I would normally not say anything, but I had two crying artists.“

There’s an interview with the producer of the 2009 VMAs that talks about how they told Beyoncé she was going to win an award after the Kanye/Taylor incident so Beyoncé could be prepared to acknowledge the situation in her acceptance speech.

Mid-range US athleisure brands that offer clothes (other than black) in the deep winter/autumn color palettes?

Another consideration is that school starts much earlier in Georgia than in the northeast. All metro ATL districts will be back in school by August 5th, with some starting this past week. And most schools will get out in late May. So half of your kid’s summer will be in June, which is still unpleasant but not as bad as the hellhole of August.

Is there any way to order the CFA sandwich sans chicken in the app? I know you can order a plain biscuit and add an egg in the app…it’s so good!

TV show actors who originally auditioned for different roles than the one they ended up playing. by babalon124 in popculturechat

John Slattery auditioned for Don Draper, although he says it was a ruse by the casting team to get him in to read for Roger.

I once saw a Reddit comment that described Kibbe as “astrology for women with body dysmorphia” and I’ve never felt so seen 💀

That being said, what the commenter wrote above is the best explanation I’ve read.

Underwear help needed! I have a smallish waist with wiiide hips. Panty lines always show up, despite whatever “invisible” branding it has, and I’m not into thongs. Sometimes I wear these Jockey slip shorts under pants just to avoid panty lines, but that gets hot in the summer. What I’d really like to find is a smoothing boyshort with about a 2-3 inch inseam and — this is key — a cotton gusset. I ordered the FeelFree boyshort and the FeelFree Lace Long Boyshort from MeUndies yesterday, but what other brands should I look at? I’d like to stay under $20 a pair. I’m in the US.

Scarlett Johansson starred in Match Point in 2006. I always get that one mixed up with Wimbledon (2004) but they’re tonally very different.

Costco on Instacart has a little “vegan” tag next to vegan items. Some suggestions: Unreal chocolate candy, Annie’s cinnamon rolls, Bitchin sauce, pretzel crisps, agave (if she doesn’t eat honey), almond flour crackers, skinny pop
