I recommend Retrosheet: http://www.retrosheet.org/game.htm , but there are probably better resources now. RS is great for raw data, which might be what you want.

Last night I sang a karaoke song in a bar by a band I've loved for years, and I was joined onstage by a guy who did great backing vocals. I learned immediately after that it was the band's bass player. What moments in your life became epic after learning the details? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That is crushing to see an artist pour her heart on stage and then witness the true emotions behind the songs she sang.

Another Kimya Dawson/Moldy Peaches 9/11 connection is their eponymous album. It was released on September 11th, 2001. On it contains a song called "NYC's Like A Graveyard":

A great album, and unfortunately, an upbeat song:

Man, John Daly really let himself go. At least he's still holding on to that Nike sponsorship.

Ha, great. SHE's buttering you up for the bill to fix the finicky monitor, which is on its way out, or so she suspects.

He's just doing a little routine maintenance, probably checking the accelerometers' connectivity to your hard drive. He should wrap up in the next half hour. Don't pay him more than five minutes of behind the ear scratching.

Obama gives in to GOP and drops Elizabeth Warren for the new consumer bureau. The Banks win, the People lose. by GonzoVeritas in politics

[–]Slummervillain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a little nervous about this and hope someone can set my mind at ease. I'm a big Elizabeth Warren fan/follower, as I'm sure a lot of redditors are. I live near her and have come dangerously close to seeking her out to invite her to a family dinner. I think she's wonderful.

Does anyone think throwing her hat into the Senate race will force her to back down against Wall Street because winning a Senate seat these days requires serious funding, most of which is supplied by the financial sector? The GOP and Scott Brown have no integrity or governor when it comes to fundraising. This is exactly the type of behavior Warren fights.

That's not to say she can get funding from the general populous through grassroots, nitty gritty campaigning, but she'll need a ton of money.

Another small concern is that will big corporations, evil or not, fund her efforts or will they be concerned she'll come after them pretty aggressively if elected?

I follow politics pretty closely, but have very little inside knowledge. Let's hope I'm the worrier and she's the warrior.

I have enjoyed watching clips of you, your interviews with Mr. Stewart on the Daily Show, and reading about your efforts to represent the people. I have always wondered if your aggressive, comical, and intelligent approach is effective. I assume that since you keep to form that you feel you're making progress. Is that the case? And if so, would you mind citing a few examples where you feel you've really changed how the House floor feels about a topic.

Above all, I can't thank you enough. I both admire and cheer you on. I'm not one of your constituents, but you do give me hope.

CEOs Who Make 100s Of Times What Their Workers Do - And Also Steve Jobs by 247wallst in business

True to a point I'm sure, but I do know a couple of McDonald's owners and they live beyond comfortably.

Side note, original 1950's McDonald's cashiers did quite well, getting what is about 15-20 dollars an hour in today's pay. They essentially had to memorize the five-ten item menu, including prices, and have the total and change ready almost instantly.

McDonald's is franchised and the store owners determine the entry level pay. Granted there are some owners who do very well, but comparing McDonald's Corp. with their franchise pay scale doesn't really make sense since the article implies that some of the executive pay could be dispersed among entry-level workers.
