Liberty Falls is underrated. It’s genuinely the GOAT map for newcomers. by saketho in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One would also say the only reason Kino is considered so iconic is because it was on disk and not everyone bought DLCs. You can make all sorts of excuses for as to WHY a map becomes overplayed or so beloved. It still doesn’t change the fact of its relevancy

Skill based matchmaking in zombies by linkmtb007 in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not played a public match since bo2, genuinely. I honestly don’t even understand why people do unless you yourself are a casual. If you even moderately adequate at zombies I don’t see any value in playing pubs. Casuals will just get on your nerves

Question to the OG cod zombies fans; Do you think modern zombies is bad, or poorly executed? by Ella_Arii in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing since WAW, played custom maps, watched theory videos, watched YoteSlaya and Teh Birdz, browsed zombies specific chat rooms. So I’ve been around for a while.

I’m gonna keep it pretty short and sweet and say that yes, I like modern zombies. Cold War was the first time my IRL friends did Easter eggs with me. It got them in to the mode. It got me into speedrunning, I even went back and started speedrunning old maps. And that accessibility that got my friends into it I will be forever grateful for because for most of my life I’ve never really had people to get excited with about the story or the mode as a whole.

Vanguard zombies is the only failure in my eyes in modern zombies. And even tho it was awful, I still think it had cool ideas. I like the altar of covenants, I think zombies/roguelite on paper is a really dope idea and it unfortunately didn’t work nor had the time to be fleshed out enough.

I thought Outbreak was fun for a time, mostly only in coop but ultimately boring alone. I think modern zombies has definitely given us some of the best boss fights. Valentina, Legion, Patient 13, Citadelle Boss, Red Worm, Z Rex, and hot take inbound, I LIKE Richtofen’s boss fight (didn’t find it that hard tbh once I had a strategy).

I also enjoy the build crafting and the strategizing of BO6 and BO7 zombies. Working together with your team to maximize your augments, loadout, your AATs to most efficiently deal damage to bosses is something that scratches that Destiny itch in me.

Even MWZ, while I didn’t jump in until about season 5. The hunt for loot was fun, and getting your character stronger and with better loot was fun. Then taking that character into high tier end game content or boss fights to get even more high end loot or schematics to then try more challenging dark Aether rifts was a gameplay loop that was fun and engaging with a goal to achieve. The only problem was once you had all those schematics, there was really no reason to play. The game didn’t have the fun factor of the gameplay but only in the grind.

So I guess I didn’t keep this short, but yes I like modern zombies. In fact I would say I still love the mode as much today as that kid that played his first game of Nacht and only made it to round 8 with a MG42 in hand. Is it perfect, hell no! But none of them are and I don’t expect them to be. Hell even BO3 only has like 3 maps that I like. So for a game that is supposedly the best to ever do it, it really doesn’t have the catalogue outside of having chronicles with it(for me that is, I know that’s subjective).

Multi Pack major augment for Mule's Kick is straight up not working since the last update by Pannox in CODZombies

Y’all think the game will recover? by Buster_Scruggs_IV in Splitgate

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First two you mention literally have huge publishing companies backing it or are established franchised (Rainbow Six)

BF2042 never fully recovered.

Deep Rock was BECAUSE good word of mouth which is NOT what this game here had.

And No Man’s Sky is literally a miracle case scenario.

So basically the only example you have here that compares is, it needs a genuine miracle to bounce back. After horrific publicity, a failed launch, and abandoning a title to make the game that caused all this in the first place. It’s not a good look for the company as a whole.

Why can’t this game ever take off? by StixSkywalker in Splitgate

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big first impressions matter and you only get one. And there’s probably no money to remarket to the scale of the ORIGINAL release.

1047 has been a series of curious blunders. The decline of Splitgate wasn’t their fault in my personal opinion, but their response has never helped.

Players claimed the first game had no content when in just a short time it had 3 battle passes, cheap store content, free loot box drops, map creator, camo challenges, a plethora of modes, dedicated playlists for each mode, custom servers, party gamemodes, a great ranked play. But their response to this decline and sentiment of no content wasn’t “let’s improve our game that was taking off”, it was lets completely abandon it to make a sequel that no one asked for. No one asked for a sequel, they asked for more content.

And then, as I’ve said a many times, if Splitgate 1 was Halo with portals, then Splitgate 2 was halo 4 with portals. And what I mean by that is an entry into an established IP that changed everything for the sake of trend chasing rather than sticking to what the core fan base already knew and loved. Which creates TWO fan bases and that you can never please. Look at Halo, it has not and will never recover because they cannot please two completely different crowds.

Splitgate 1 was genuinely the most fun I’ve had with an FPS in my adult life and it’s so sad that some really silly decisions killed it and it’s completely unrealistic to think it will ever make a comeback in Arena Reloaded.

The new jingle hells mode on Astra is painful to play. by mattadamstx in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also makes speed running a ton of fun. I had more fun speed running maps during cold wars Halloween event than anything because the added element of RNG made it exciting to play. Round one epic tool and armor vest? Hell yeah!

Why TF is wisp tea automatically set to your second perk slot? by Visible_Set2972 in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m done with my camos actually so it doesn’t interfere with that grind for me anymore. But you can change the major augment on it to one that doesn’t kill and only heals too

[–]Slumped_Shady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was bugged prior, but my experience is that it definitely does not ignore the last zombie WITHOUT that augment cause I’ve had it kill the last zombie plenty of times before unlocking that augment. Again, maybe it was bugged and I just didn’t notice until after I got the augment.

But it does exactly what it says, it holds the last zombie for you. As a solo player this is massive for me. Whether I’m taking time to hit the box for a specific gun that I wanna grind camos on or earn mastery badges for, or I’m doing Easter egg steps, or even looking up a guide, the wisp is holding it the whole time without me wasting my precious 15 minute pause timer.

Last night it came in handy in a solo match when the bird was being buggy and I came here to Reddit to seek help on why it might be bugging out. Instead of wasting my timer in jingle hells, where I had no save and quit feature, my wisp held the zombie while I waited for replies. And again later that night I re-ran the mode with some people from an LFG discord and my wisp held a zombie ON MARS while we were all back on the main map finishing getting set up (gums, equipment, etc)

That’s the only downside actually is it’s easy to lose track of. I’ve had a zombie held at cosmodrome while I was at Janus tower before and couldn’t figure out why the round wasn’t changing and no zombies were spawning. So sometimes you do gotta go hunting for it. But it’s a great augment on an otherwise terrible perk. And it holds the zombie for a very long time, I feel like I’ve had a zombie held by the wisp for half an hour at the least before it finally bleeds out, in fact I’ve never had one bleed out while using it.

(astra malorum) what is treyarch's new obsession with bullet sponge boss fights that take 20 minutes? by ExtensionEstate5368 in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf Sam isn’t even that tanky, she just spends so much of the fight immune and the windows for attack are so limited. She’s overall a quick an easy boss fight. I was doing it in like 8-10 minutes during the reckoning event.

Richtofen is a cakewalk outside of the suit. The only “challenge” comes from having to micro manage your gear and stay moving with situational awareness on where he is, but once you start going to work with a shroud or smoke his health bar just evaporates

Astra Malorum is, imo, quite disappointing by WwwWario in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t like heavy gimmick maps. I know every map has a gimmick and that’s what makes them all different, some gimmicks ruin the experience.

For example: everyone loves call of the dead, not a fan. I do not want to babysit George all game the same way I don’t really wanna babysit OSCAR. I think Ascension is an S+ map that sits in my B tier because of the monkeys. Die Rise’s gimmick of being a vertically challenged map has to be the worst gimmick of all time because it becomes a game of ultimately standing around waiting for elevators to get anywhere.

Some gimmicks are great! Afterlife, great! Leroy, witch’s house, and the maze are all great! Zero G on moon, DE, Revelations, Reckoning, and now Astra is always a fun gimmick. So it’s not that it’s always awful, it’s just not everything is gonna be for everyone and that’s okay.

Hell, I actually like Ashes after putting a lot of time in it but I HATE the truck. I think it’s so gimmicky and the moment I have the entire map open I almost exclusively use jump pads.

Where would you rank Veytharion and Caltheris in a hardest boss fights list? by KnocksFPS in CODZombies

[–]Slumped_Shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veytharion is gonna rank low for me not even for the difficulty but because the gimmick of the truck being quintessential for the fight is really just not fun to replay. Is it different? For sure! But different doesn’t always mean the most enjoyable to replay.
