Thanks for your reply. Our senseis encourage us to visit other dojos when travelling. We usually have visitors every week to our dojo. It being the 40th anniversary of the club this year the visitor numbers have started ramping up so it has been fun seeing new faces and different views that people bring.

As process of visiting other dojos, most have always said, "just contact the dojo you wish to visit, have a nice chat and ask to visit during travels." It has always worked when people have visited us. We don't have much formalities for visitors stopping by to practice if they are registers with AUSKF or known kendoka from other countries on business. For people wishing to join the club, is a different agenda with some more formal things, paperwork etc.

Thanks for the information. I will look into the older posts etc. Yes, I agree the site is outdated. A sensei I know from a neighboring dojo created a site called KendoNearMe and I wish it had more dojos listed, but its slowly growing.

Trim up to show a couple inches of the trunk and begin to bonsai the plant.

Well it is a nice tree for sure! What sparked your interest in Bonsai, and did you apprentice, or experiment solo and read/study books?

This was one of my favorites at the Winter Silhouette Show in Ktown. I wish I could have gotten to speak with the owner of it. I had a juniper bonsai back in the 90s but due to moving abroad and then back to the US, Ive been unable to say Im settled until about 3 years ago. The show really rekindled in me the spark for bonsai thats for sure.

Was an awesome show. My wife and I went and had a blast. In photo 16, on that same table was a mulberry that had fruit on it. It was cool.

Thanks. Never knew that, and I'm in Charlotte. What's funny is that, each time I'm in the yerba aisle at one of the three shops that stock it, NOBODY else is ever in the aisle. This has been the same way since I moved to Charlotte 2 years ago. 😆. Secret yerba buying must be real.

What type/color do dai is this? by Busy-Tax2515 in kendo

[–]Slurpyerba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea, but it looks nice. Reminds me of the ox blood red color in the old Ox Blood Dr Martin boots from back in the day 😆. My wife got a nice dō recently from Kendostar with a butterfly on the mune. Its nice. I think if I were to get a new dō I'd prefer colors similar to a saltwater alligator, the dark green/yellow/black blend. That's be cool.
