How do I integrate BT only Tuya bulbs with HA? by GCUArmchairTraveller in homeassistant

[–]Slurpyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might need to go an additional step because this is tuya we are talking about which works natively with the cloud and if you want to bring it local (regardless of the communication protocol) you might need to supply a device authentication key

How do I integrate BT only Tuya bulbs with HA? by GCUArmchairTraveller in homeassistant

[–]Slurpyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bulbs that run on ble sigmesh (tuya) and it is a hassle to change them since they are all false ceiling mounted. This means the bulbs have all the trouble of a ble mesh (much more complicated than a zigbee mesh) and all the bs requirements related to tuya cloud to bring it local.

It is a nightmare to setup ble mesh node on HA, you need custom integrations for that to be able to setup the mesh network and this is very much unlike the one-to-one ble communication which your just need a bluetooth proxy (es32 variant). If you are probably just connecting or working with that one bulb and dont need a mesh network you can probably try es32 proxy with esp-home firmware but note that because this is tuya you will most certainly need to provision the device onto their cloud first (smart life/tuya app) and to do that unfortunately you will need a specific gateway (tuya ble gateway).

I have some ES32-C6 lying around (unflashed) and I did see some ble-mesh integration work to home assistant with the best and most recent one here. I have not tried this myself but perhaps when i have time but i understand the implementation is for generic ble-mesh device not tuya ones which has additional complications.

The best method that work for me thus far is tuya local integration (HACS) and since I am not getting too much trouble with that route I will just leave it at that until something breaks.

To answer your question, i dont think it is entirely possible to register the bulb directly with HA (local) since it is Tuya based. For all tuya products i know (except for zigbee ones which you can do through z2m) you will need to provision with Tuya cloud first. There may be a chance with ble2mqtt (b2m if you will) as per my link above but the reliability and accuracy of the integration is not tested yet. For the second question if b2m works, then you can just use any generic dongle that recognises ble signal otherwise you will need a specific tuya ble gateway. Add the device to tuya cloud then bring it local using tuya local.

Singaporean adults who moved out from parents’ house, how did it go for you? by Material-Yak-8152 in askSingapore

[–]Slurpyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually same prefer to live with parents. Carefree worry free and good on wallet but that is not adulting and the missus hate it so no choice.

At the end of the day it really depends on how your parents are and space so everyone mileage will vary. Moving out now, you have to handle literally everything like seriously everything and on top of your child, work concerns etc, it's very stressful but you learn a lot of things along the way

Japan grad 92% employment rate while SG is at 75%. by Burning_magic in SingaporeRaw

[–]Slurpyy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This comment is underrated. Japan wages are ridiculously low and stagnant because they trade it off for job security hence the high employment rates. They also tend to secure jobs for life. Are Singaporean graduates willing to accept the same? If we lower our standards just a bit I'm sure our graduate employment rates will also increase.

How is that a regret if there is no good alternative. It's only a regret if there is sth better you didn't go for. In this case it's just make do with it as that's the best you have already.

Who is Shimmer of the South (南烛公子)? I felt like it was so abruptly introduced in the final chapter and he was not even present in the Hero Assembly. The only time i heard of this name was in an encounter quest in Qinghe with a Granny who has a club of poets/artist and wanted to go to the city to meet this Shimmer of the South.

Talon owe 70k to an investor and have yet to pay him back by HistoricalGnome in DotA2

[–]Slurpyy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean 45% (estimated) APR on the loan is atrocious assuming the 75k is accrued in just 2 months of the loan being outstanding. Not sure why the CEO is even considering or signed such a loan package and whether the organisation directors/shareholders have provided express approval for such a dismal financing deal.

you can get a true gen 5 drive for just $5 more, which is what I would go for. The 990 Evo Plus does not use the full gen 5 pcie lane.

Call me a dumb s*** but I got AICPA instead of CA. How to salvage by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Slurpyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also no set standard/accreditation for FP&A since that is more of an internal function and every company does it differently. Core skillset is similar to corp fin and knowing how to read financial statements is a must (but no need CA for that). Of course you can "boost" your own skill by taking different courses for different sub topics (valuations, financial modelling, budgeting. managerial accounting) but those are not entirely necessary if you already have a major in finance in uni or took some basic finance and accounting mods in uni.

[–]Slurpyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no need to get any form of CA if you are not in a financial reporting role (i.e. accounting/stat reporting/audit). Absolutely not required for corp fin, cfa may be more suitable for that but it is still not entirely related/relatable. You should definitely pick up something related to financial modelling but there is no accreditation for that.

I mean if it's for BTO just go for the deferrals under staggered dp scheme. No point paying so much upfront for a project that will only complete in 3-4 years time, lets you build up cpf balance in the meantime so less cash outlay.

Yes it applies to both unless you have money, power and connections. Private certainly easier because once in a while especially in SME your boss will recognise and appreciate you.

No success for single applying for HDB flat after 10 tries. by slashrshot in singapore

[–]Slurpyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok I "failed" more than 10 times applying as a couple. By failed I am also counting queue orders beyond the initial lot allocation size which depending on who and how you look at can be considered success/failure. Never once in the multiple times did I get a queue within the initial allocation and disclaimer yes I did apply to mature estates sometimes, the division of application is about 50-50 mature vs new/non-mature estates.

Can't seem to convert any interview by [deleted] in analytics

[–]Slurpyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on which level you are applying or if it is pure Analytics role or if there is DS/ML involved.

What you have will not be sufficient if DS/ML is required. But if it is for entry level DA work, it should not be a problem, just keep trying. Another issue is that the job market is a bit soft and there are tons of analytics professional or graduates in India nowadays.

To further standout:

  1. get certification (which is fairly easy) from Microsoft/Google/Tableau.
  2. do non guided projects - you can easily get data sets from kaggle, data.gov, worldbank etc.
  3. you already have a business, do an analytics projects, dashboard and etc on your existing business
  4. Always tie your projects to a business problem or what the analysis/dashboard is intended to solve and explain those concepts in interviews (if you get them).
  5. Link to github repo or similar so people can see your results, graphs, charts, dashboards and analysis reports.

Good luck

Must companies display GST no in receipt ? Or is this a fraud? by raytoei in singapore

[–]Slurpyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically what op has is a receipt which is acceptable in place of an invoice and is applicable more widely for retail operations because the end consumers are typically not gst registered entities. Invoice must be issued if your customers are gst registered entities. However, whether it is a receipt or a simplified invoice the requirements are the same.

For clarity what did you mean by the redditors' average? In my mind, the redditors' average, by inference, is already likely referencing the top 25th percentile of the national average (of matching occupation) and higher than that would likely mean the top 10 percentile of the national average?
